Probably my most favorite figure in my collection - Big Agent D from threezero. I only wish I had gotten his companion figure, Agent Rat at the same time. Got it at kidrobot years ago.

I've taken many shots of him in the past, but I thought I'd give him some better studio time - time that this figure deserves!

Threezero Figzero: Gridman the Hyperagent. The basis of the American "Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad" show that some may remember, a show that did so well that the recent Japanese Anime actually took on its new name as an homage to the American series.

Gridman (or Servo in Americaland) is the core character in the series, and was heavily influenced by Ultraman. In the fact, the whole series is Ultraman inside a computer program. The figure got the overall look pretty accurately but alas the proportions are a bit off (he's stretched out a bit height wise).

Having handled the figure, I highly doubt we're gonna see the Mecha add on, at least at this size, which is unfortunate because there's potential for it to at the very least, not collapse upon itself due to weight. I liked the OG goys back in the 90s, but the recent Goodsmile and Megahouse sets have all had their flaws.

Being a $170 USD figure, it certainly costs more than the Rangers, and for what its worth, we got a figure that was significantly better than the Rangers (or at least Ranger Slayer). Suit is tough fabric suit, like a rubber, that is stitched together at the back. Unfortunately the patterns on the suit are all decals like with the Rnager suit but they seem to hold up to the abuse of posing decently. Naturally, there are hard plastic "armour" parts and there are also lights which I did not test.

Gear wise, pretty much what I expected, namely the Plasma Blade and Barrier Shield which serve as his basic gear, and can be combined to form the Gridman Sword and the Thunder Axe. What's neat is that I don't recall ever seeing a transformation sequence for the Shield, but it's here in toy form. Three are two lengths of Plasma Sword so the Axe handle doesn't have too much blade protruding.

Articulation on these bodies was never the bestt. They're OK, being about what you get from a TT Hot Toys body. The complication on this figure is that the suit is so tight, and so is the articulation, that it really doesn't like to hold certian poses. The Pauldrons ont he shoulders are designed to shift and move to minimize shoulder rotatio interruptions. Ankles are just a ball joint so you're not getting much play there. Head movement is decent.

Paint Applications are actually quite nice. You're clearly not getting photo accurate painting of faces here, which of course is not even a factor to consider. You do get some crisp, clean paint work that replicates the colours of the show suit nicely.

Build Quality wise, I mean, it doesn't fall apart or anything. Things hold together nicely (both body and suit) and the fists pop on and off the wrist joint perfectly. The issue, however, is that I'm sure they're just provding generic hands (I mean the weapon gripping hand has thumbs folded down...) and as a result the hands can't really grip the smaller Plasma Sword handles nicely.
