Silk thread roti - the threads made of caramelised sugar and then eaten in a roti - is a desert created in Ayutthaya. A mix of Indian subcontinent and Thai cuisines, the dish here was made by a Muslm family living in Ayutthaya and I was told that it is typically sold in the street by Muslim vendors.
The colours can vary - the green sugarsilk is coloured by use of the pandan/pandanus leaf.

Yummy.
I made a wrapped thread detail....woohoooo what fun! And, then, I decided ...hey...this could be a button loop, so, I stitched on two lovely shell buttons.... wrapped my initial two threads probably a bit too loosely around one button for length....and carried on with wrapping. I will probably go ahead and do the second loop... try to get them the same length...and then, move the buttons a bit further away .. or not...I'll see what it all looks like when I finish my second 'wrapping'...more FK and other detailing to come at the base...

Empicoris rubromaculatus, common name of this species is thread bug. A cosmopolitan assassin (Reduviidae). Found in my kitchen, Hobart, Tasmania. ~4.7mm bodylength.
This reduviid belongs in the subfamily Emesinae, all members of which tend towards thin bodies and very elongated limbs. Thus collectively called thread-legged bugs. Their forlegs are raptorial and not used for walking.

This embroidery thread came in a bag of vintage zippers from the thrift store. anyone interested in swapping some fabric for these? I don't embroider so I won't use these. There are 57 different pieces (not necessarily different colors) and some blank cards.

Just finished up this pin cushion made with tiny thread granny squares.
Inspired by the beautiful pincushions that Emma Lamb (www.emmallamb.blogspot.co.uk/) makes.
Today I presented my methods for thread drawing - using four different techniques for this simple piece - to the Harbor Art Guild in Hoquiam, WA.
I used four different techniques to create this image - standard lock-stitching on a home machine, darning on a home machine, fabric applique with fusible web, and hand-embroidery.
All the principles of heaven and earth are living inside you. Life itself is truth, and this will never change. Everything in heaven and earth breathes. Breath is the thread that ties creation together.

This is a photograph from the 2nd Annual Rock 'n' Roll Dublin Half Marathon which was held in Dublin, Ireland on Monday 4th August 2014 at 08:30. The Rock 'n' Roll Dublin Half Marathon also incorporated the Athletics Association of Ireland (AAI) National Half Marathon Championships which was open to all eligible runners registered with an AAI affiliated athletics club. The race started in Dublin City center at North Wall Quay and Castleforbes Road on the Liffey. The route then went West out of the city bringing runners along the famous South Quays to Inchicore and then taking a slight northerly direction into the Phoenix Park. The race finished in the Phoenix Park with runners following over half of the course within the grounds of the famous park. Over 7,000 people took part. The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series is one of the largest running series in the world with events primarily taking place in North American Cities. However, recently the franchise has spread to Europe. One of the unique aspects of the race is that every course features live bands along the course along with cheering teams of supporters at water stations. In the Phoenix Park today there was a large entertainment area at the Finish line for competitors, families and friends to enjoy.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
