I was sick on Sunday, so I didn't take any pictures for that day. This is some thread one of my best friends gave me awhile ago in the summer. I am really grateful to have bright friends in my life.
Giant spools of thread purchased for fifty cents each. I think I'll use the bright green on my table cloth skirt. Or maybe that teal color.
The one on the bottom was eating the whole time. They flew, landed and moved around for some time while I watched and took pictures. Thread Waisted Wasp: Eremnophila aureonotata.
I bought this pine mini shelving kind of thing (it's probably got a proper name like Helga or Ivan!) from Ikea years ago, but never used it. But now I see why it's true purpose is - to hold reels of thread! ... perfect!
I've been working on hand dying grosgrain ribbon, different weights of cotton thread, and cotton fabric for the last week.
I love my countertop, such a good backdrop

The curling thread is made from 1/8" acrylic rod. After the body is painted and the thread glued into the base, the end will be heated and wrapped around the needle eye to secure it into place.
She moves like dusk unwinding,
a whisper of silk against silence,
her back a map of quiet constellations
woven in thread and shimmer.
The maze of embroidery clings,
golden filigree curling like sacred script,
each bead a secret star catching light,
as if the heavens had stitched her into being.
Beneath—
a glimpse of skin, opalescent,
the hush of warmth beneath the weave,
soft as the breath between prayers.
To trace that path
is to lose the world,
to follow the gleam of something eternal,
where desire and divinity entwine.

A spider's thread, that is. This tiny 1/2" acorn had lost its cap, but was hanging on and swaying in the breeze. Wonder how long before it falls. Spider's glue is so strong.

Famine is an example of thread painting in the extreme. This piece is made entirely out of thread - like illustrating with of a needle instead of using a ball point pen. The deep ruts in the landscape represent what it feels like to be used up - mentally, physically, and creatively. The horizon is so far away, an uphill climb through rough terrain, almost too far an expanse to travel. All that remains is desolation and despair.
