apparently Mr Pink makes the best boxer shorts in the whole world.....

A small section of a wall mounted installation at Central Saint Martin's college of art and fashion in Kings Cross, London.

As you may know, I grew up listening to the old proverb, “clothes maketh the man” and the saying “march to the beat of my own drum”, so even though I know they are somewhat out of fashion these days in business circles, I do like a nice tie with a smart suit. When it comes to fashion, I set my own trends and make my own fashion, so even if they are passé, I love wearing beautifully patterned and unusual ties in beautiful colours and patterns.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a weekly challenge called “Snap Happy”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each week, and the image is to be posted on the Monday of the week.

This week the theme, “unreal flowers” was chosen by me!

To suit the theme I decided to celebrate my love of floral silk and satin brocades by creating a collage of my most beautiful and brightest floral ties.

This is an updated version of my "engineering (geek) student kit" since I now work in tech and am no longer a university computer engineering student as of 2005.

What're you looking at here? This is my kit for when I fly to and from different work campuses for training, presentations, conferences, etc. I don't always bring all of this stuff, but most of it gets rotated in and out regularly.

I use a variety of SFBags/Waterfield products to keep everything organised including a Sleevecase and multiple gear pouches to store batteries, cables, etc.

Most of the stuff seen here can be seen in greater detail in other photos on my flickr stream.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a monthly challenge called "Freestyle On The Fifth". A different theme chosen by a member of the group each month, and the image is to be posted on the 5th of the month.

This month the theme, "fields of gold" was chosen by Gary (www.flickr.com/photos/gazman_au/).

What better way to create a field of gold than to lay out a number of golden silk ties and create a golden terrain.

The ties included here range in age from twenty years ago to earlier this year. The ties are made by various different companies including London based designers Thomas Pink, Hawes and Curtis and Hardy Amies, Australian designers Sergio Alvajee and Andreas Miguel, and French designers Giles du Puy and Déclic.

Walking through the City to get my lunch I saw these chaps walking past with briefcases and fox masks as a publicity thing for Tomas Pink. I'd had a rubbish day at the office, so joining them would have been a rather better afternoon.

Just off the plane and straight to the bar of Denville's House club.

For once the flush in my cheeks isn't the whiskey- it's the blustery weather of late. Which I'm still enjoying (the whiskey helps with that too). Today, as always, was a gumbo of whatever wasn't in the hamper. If you ever hear me say that my clothes are "accessible" what I mean is that they are conveniently piled on my bedroom floor. And with the shorter daylight hours it means picking through those mounds of fabric in the dark. Without the benefit of caffeine. Others with similar handicaps have the smarts to lay out their clothes the night before. But if I was that smart these photos would be highlighting my newly minted bespoke wardrobe.

It also seems that I left the house wearing slippers. Which, if I were perfectly acceptable. But then again, I don't recall him ever having to set foot outside the mansion. Wise man.

One of my favourite pink Thomas Pink shirts, ready for work. My great-grandmother crocheted the clotheshanger cosy, and she could obviously look into the future and put a bit of matching pink in.

It is also my father's birthday today, and while he would have approved of the shirt, my work and even taking up photography as a hobby, he'd completely disapprove of my country of residence ("tea drinkers, all of them!") and taking pictures of shirts on hangers.

Just playing with my new toy. Dynamic range turned up to 400%, this looks distinctly different to the Nikon and pretty fine straight from camera. Now, some real shooting...

For second twin of set. I used simplicity pattern and high-end men's shirt from Thomas Pink from a DC Goodwill. Hopefully the little man won't look like he's a miniature working stiff.
