As part of its conversion to an equipment bus, the Bath CSD installed a home-built suicide door in addition to the normal emergency door, making for an unusual sight when both doors are opened!

I think these buses were first introduced in the 1996-1997 School Year. They're currently spare buses for Fairfax County Public Schools along with some 1998 SAF-T-Liner MVP ER's and maybe some AmTran RE's. They're currently about 17 years old and some especially this one (#30) is still running strong. According to Wikipedia, it says that those buses are the second-oldest in the fleet after the 1996 AmTran Genesis' and the 1996 AmTran RE's. Back in 2008, some Blue Bird TC/2000's were still in service along with some 1994 SAF-T-Liner MVP ER's as spare buses, and before that in 2005 at the latest, some Chevy, GMC, Ford school buses with conventional engines were also still in service along with some older Blue Bird flat nose front engines as spare buses. I wasn't familiar with buses back in 2005 so I wasn't able to get a picture of those models and I rode a 1990/1991 Blue Bird TC/2000 in 2008 when going on a class field trip. I should've brought my camera that day so I can show you an image of an older school bus now retired or at the scrap yard, but too bad I don't have one. When the Wii was already out, some 1990/1991 Blue Bird TC/2000's were not retired yet meaning that some 1997/1998 Thomas SAF-T-Liner MVP ER's can still be in service by now after the Wii U was first released which is 6 years after the Wii. What makes me not mind those buses to still be in service today is that some stop signs got replaced similar to a transit destination bus sign being replaced. I also saw that some transit buses got repainted which means there's another slight difference between when first delivered and now. The Silver Line phase 1 for the Washington Metro looks complete at the time of this photo and may open this spring, but eventually, these Thomas SAF-T-Liners may be replaced by 2018 when the Washington Metro Silver Line Phase 2 opens. I took a picture of this recently so I can show you a school bus that's currently one of the oldest in the fleet showing a recent date for the photo taken. I used to focus on making sure some new school buses come every start of school year, but now I focus on both since the oldest ones are more likely to go byebye. Another reason this bus is so unique is that the fleet number is only two digits like a football player and MVP for this bus is supposed to stand for "Manueverability, Visibility, and Protection", but also can stand for "Most Valued Player" which makes this unique one quite funny. The 1994 version of this bus is the original SAF-T-Liner ER, but they're now all gone. The MVP as part of the model can mean that this SAF-T-Liner ER is safer in some way.

The Reston Children's Center in Reston, VA also has Type C Thomas school buses of both generations. It's so nice for Reston, VA to still have Thomas buses after the other Thomas SAF-T-Liner MVP ERs for the whole county were retired. Photos were taken during the severe coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.
