Bull thistle is a moderately large wildflower, I must say it looks very beautiful and it placed itself in a corner where 2 fence meet, although is a family of Sunflower it looks nothing like it, I will cut each flower that blooms and bring it indoors before the seeds form, this Thistle will take over any garden, end of the season I have to dig it up.
I set this at -2 EV because I was shooting into the sun. The bright bokeh came from dew drops on the grass behind.
Another sign that summer is over is to see how the thistles look after the flowering time is completely over and their tiny little flowers are gone.
What I like about this flower is the way that light hits it at that time of the day making the color disappear from one side or to say it correctly reflects it, and how the lens of the camera reacts to it.
It is sad that this format here in Flickr doesn't allow a vertical photo to show all its details and beauty like an horizontal one..
If you want to know more about this very photogenic subject, here is something to read about:

Photography is my passion, and nature photography is my favorite.
I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.
I'm in many groups, and I only add my photos to them if they are not private.
I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!
The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!
Martha.
Have a beautiful Friday!
Thank you for your visits, kind comments and faves. Always greatly appreciated.

On one of our outings in Colorado, we came across this patch of wild thistle by a lake. I thought that the light was hitting it beautifully and decided it was worth taking a picture of.
A wonderful sight to see. I haven't seen thistles since we left Étampes and I was beginning to miss them. Being by the sea is wonderful, but sometimes I miss the greenery we had in Essonne.
There was a garden on the route I took today that is really overgrown with wonderful wild flowers growing everywhere and these delightful thistles.
Thank you for your favourites. :O)
How can such a pretty delicate flower be mounted on such a nasty plant? Mother Nature is playing a cruel joke. Taken at Willow River State Park in Wisconsin.
