if I tried to explain to you what this means to me, it just wouldn't make sense.

ten things i've learned this year. about photography. about myself.

2) i've learned to stop hating my nose.

what the hell does that have to do with the photo above?

stay with me, it will make sense eventually.

like so many people, i have some seriously bad issues with body image. i won't expound on that. i'm sure everyone can tell their own stories about this subject. it suffices to say that at one point in time, there was no amount of money you could have given me to pose for a shot like this one. but almost 365 shots of myself later and i've learned to stop hating what i see in the mirror. learned to accept what i've got. and i didn't charge a dime for the shot. ;)

no, i'm not in love with myself all of a sudden. but i do accept me now. for the most part, anyway. and that might be the most positive lesson i've learned from this project.

that... and i love shadows, grain and b/w.

all good hiding places for people who can't quite do this in the full light of day just yet.

**one last thing. nothing to do with the above. i got really down today when i thought about this project ending. i've come to feel like this is part of my life. part of my growth as a person. for some reason, i got it in my head that i won't be allowed to do any more SP's after tomorrow. then i snapped out of it and realized this is ridiculous. this is something i enjoy doing and i believe i am getting something from it, so i intend to keep doing selfies in the future. NOT every day. maybe not every week. just when i feel inspired. however often that may be.

when i want to, not when i have to.

but i will keep doing them.

hope that's okay with everyone. ;)

song of the day: until tomorrow then, by ed harcourt

www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4fQogtPDLw

it was sitting on the table, looking so damn good...

Needs a bit more length. Also, I realize it clashes with that sweater. Such is life.

Non, rien de rien

Non, je ne regrette rien

Ni le bien, qu'on m'a fait

Ni le mal, tout ça m'est bien égal
