"The Starlings of the Costa del Sol"
We totally fell in love with these busy and noisy little green creatures 💕
They're called Monk Parakeets (Myiopsitta monachus).
Medium-sized bird (approx 30 cm or 12 in). Plumage of green tones in general, somewhat bluish on the wings. The forehead, throat and breast are grey in adults. Long tail. Strong, short and hooked bill, ocher-colored, typical of parrots and parakeets.
Species native to South America that entered the peninsula via trade of exotic birds and that by means of escapes managed to settle successfully. It preferably uses parks and gardens with palm trees and eucalyptuses as its habitat.

We really loved this place with several different tapas bars and slightly different offers. In fact we liked it so much, we returned on a couple of occasions.

We travelled from Montemar (Torremolinos/Benalmadena), Andalusia, Spain by local bus to Fuengirola but we decided we would just have a coffee and a brandy, then take the train to Torremolinos Centro instead.

Benalmadena is situated on the Costa del Sol, Spanish Mainland - approx 20 to 30 minutes driving distance from Malaga Airport (AGP) with great public transport links of buses and trains.
Mobile shots of Reus on the hoof as we made our way around the city from the central bus station, returning back via the plaza behind the cathedral where a Confirmation ceremony was taking place.
It's where it all begins - head past the Torre to the river bed, cross the bridge and keep going inland, you will reach the old town as long as you keep the riverbed on your right side.
Tip: once you get past the main bus station you can't miss it - just dive in and explore!

If you are British and need to work in Spain, there are a limited number of options available to you; open a shop or bar catering for Brits, offer a service or trade to the ex-pat community, sell houses (not a great idea at present) or form a tribute band.
This Showaddywaddy tribute band are appearing at the ‘This is Spain’ exhibition in Los Montesinos this weekend. Actually, ‘This is Britain in Spain’ would have been more apt because there was very little that was Spanish on show.
Showaddywaddy were of course an eight piece band, with two vocalists, a couple of drummers and two bassists. So this four piece singing combo were a little off the mark; still they sounded the part.
The groups first hit single was "Hey Rock and Roll", written by them. In total they had 22 hits which were mostly covers of 50s and 60s numbers including; "Three Steps to Heaven" (Eddie Cochran), "Heartbeat" (Buddy Holly), "Under the Moon of Love" (Curtis Lee), "When" (the Kalin Twins), "You Got What It Takes" (Marv Johnson) and "Dancin' Party" (Chubby Checker).
The real Showaddywaddy have continued to tour, and still do around 100 dates a year all around Europe but sadly not in Los Montesinos!
