I crocheted this scarf with mohair yarn from Turkey, which I ordered via e-Bay. This is lovely material to work with. I invented the pattern myself this summer while on vacation, because the knitting needles I had with me were not long enough. This my third Squiggle and it took be about one hour and a half to crochet.

Viewed from Water Power Park, this is the Third Avenue Bridge crossing the Mississippi River above St. Anthony Falls in downtown Minneapolis. It was designed by city engineer Frederick W. Cappelen and was built from 1914 to 1918.
She didn't really "get" what it was until we loaded it up & turned it on. Now she loves it.
Also, I just love the way her hair looks in this picture.

My lucky day to get this sequence of action. This is the frame before the dad dropped the live white throat-swift to the young below (zoom in to see the live swift). Earlier, I saw them catching a pigeon far away, and followed them to the cove, saw one of the fledglings feeding on the pigeon, both parents were perched on the cliff; another fledgling was on the beach, I did not see the third fledgling. About 10 minutes later, both parents went after a swift, the male caught it; two fledglings went after dad for the catch; the dad dropped the swift, the swift tried to get away, but one of the fledglings caught it. Then after another 20 minutes or so, dad caught another swift; this time, I was on the beach, much closer to the action. The following frames show the drop and catch.
My buddy's elder son Jackson plays third base for the Grayslake Phillies; Friday, June 22 was the first time I had the opportunity to see him play.
It was a hard-fought game, and went back-and-forth before the final score.
After we got back to the house, he whipped me up-down-and-sideways at Yahtzee. There's no substitute for youth and energy. And smarts.
When beginners start to solder they immediately realize they need a raised alligator clip to hold the wires. I'm not sure how the ridiculously clumsy metallic third hands they sell at Radio Shack came to dominate the market. They totally suck do to their price, weight and desk space needs. I started using this little roll-up orange guy from All Electronics and will not being going back to the metal monstrasity.

Called “hard-grooving musicians” by The New York Times, Chicago-based Third Coast Percussion has been recognized for its “superb” (New Yorker) sound, unique take on percussion instrumentation, and integration of new media in performances. (So integrated, that they’ve offered free phone and tablet apps at their performances to enhance audience experience.) This evening, they’ll perform David Little’s “Haunt of Last Nightfall,” which blends pre-recorded heavy metal sounds with live percussion for a “tender, elegiac, dark, and epic” experience; and Tan Dun’s “Elegy: Snow in June,” written for percussion and cello to commemorate Beijing’s Tiananmen Square massacre. They’ll also perform other Third Coast Percussion favorites, including John Cage’s “Credo in Us.” For “Elegy,” the quartet will be joined by guest soloist Joshua Roman in what’s sure to be an unforgettably powerful night of music. The group — Sean Connors, Robert Dillon, Peter Martin, and David Skidmore — is Ensemble-in-Residence at University of Notre Dame’s DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, and is known for working closely with new composers and integrating community outreach and workshops on their tours.
