Buddha.
I think too much. Whatever. Nothing I can do about that. This is not a good night.
I had a dream about "Bob" last night.
"Go away
Give me a chance to miss you
Say goodbye
It'll make me want to kiss you
I love you so
Much more when you're not here
Watchin all the bad shows
Drinking all of my beer
I don't believe Adam and Eve
Spent every goddamn day together
If you give me some room there will be room enough for two
Tonight
Leave me alone I'm lonely
Alone I'm lonely
I'm tired
Leave me alone I'm lonely
Alone I'm lonely tonight
I don't wanna wake up with another
But I don't wanna always wake up with you either
No you can't hop into my shower
All I ask for is one fuckin' hour
You taste so sweet
But I can't eat the same thing every day
Cuttin off the phone
Leave me the fuck alone
Tomorrow I'll be beggin' you to come home
Tonight
Leave me alone I'm lonely
Alone I'm lonely
I'm tired
Leave me alone I'm lonely
Alone I'm lonely tonight..."
("Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)" by Pink) I don't listen to her really.
I think I could marry this thing
Designed in 1945 and introduced to service in 1948, Saladin is a very capable rifle. Feeding from 20-rounder magazines, and using the Czech 7.62x45mm round, it was very loosely based on the AK-47's system, even though it barely resembles the rifle both internally and externally. It is able to mount a bayonet and a scope, the latter which fits the rifle very well, as it was surprisingly accurate for Altayi standards. It has a rate of fire of 750 rounds per minute.
Entering service just in the middle of a time of border conflicts, it was quickly baptized by fire, and proved to be very effective against Soviet troops. Essentially being able to beat the AK-47 in every category but capacity (which could be improved to a capacity of 35 rounds by a field modification!), and proved to be the favorite of soldiers. Even though it has recently started service, it has already gained a fanbase of sorts, and will likely stay in service for a long, long time.

I used to think this is a Sarah Bernhardt peony, but now I have doubts. I have another (Sarah Bernhardt), right next to this one, and it is so fully doubled, almost 'frilly,' quite different.
Whatever this is, it's my favorite peony on the whole planet. (But then... I haven't seen them all....) It is extremely hardy, surviving past winters down into the -70sF (-55 to -60C) and comes back each spring with beautiful blooms in summer, with no protection other than growing in a bed against the south side of my house.
If you have any ideas to it's variety, I'd love to hear them. I am sure I would recognize it's name if I saw it, as I have only grown a half dozen varieties of peony, only four successfully.
I think of you often, mom...
I hope you are tickled pink to know that the illustrious Quill & Quire literary magazine published a fascinating 2017 article about grandfather Franklin Fletcher Appleton's pivottal role in the publishing industry in Canada in which you are also tangentially immortalized: quillandquire.com/omni/the-influential-career-of-william-...
Problems are the part of one's life. But there's no problem without any solution. Each problem has a solution, sometimes the number is more than one. Only thing we need to do is think. Think about the problem, think about the paths that can make the matters easier, and the solution will come out by itself.
I think of you and wish you all the best for the coming time

"I think that this is the first time I am meeting most of you. But to me, whether it is an old friend or new friend, there’s not much difference anyway, because I always believe we are the same; we are all human beings. Of course, there may be differences in our cultural background or way of life, there may be differences in our faith, or we may be of a different color, but we are human beings, consisting of the human body and the human mind. Our physical structure is the same, and our mind and our emotional nature are also the same. Whenever I meet people, I always have the feeling that I am encountering another human being, just like myself. I find it is much easier to communicate with others on that level. If we emphasize specific characteristics, like I am Tibetan or I am Buddhist, then there are differences. But those things are secondary. If we can leave the differences aside, I think we can easily communicate, exchange ideas, and share experiences."
~H.H. The Dalai Lama, from "The Art of Happiness"~
This is a little strange to start the year off, i know. But it's also very meaningful for me. Several years ago I read The Art of Happiness, written by The Dalai Lama, and it helped change my life. I am by no means a Buddhist, however I believe their beliefs are some of the most virtuous of all the religions available for us to choose from. To some, they may seem extreme, and they are difficult for most people, even me, to follow to the letter. But the meaning I draw from Buddhism, and the lessons I learned from The Art of Happiness are simple: Be compassionate towards others and you will find happiness in yourself. I try to live my life this way, and though sometimes it is difficult, I also recognize we all struggle and it's what we learn from that struggle that makes us stronger. A strong mind is a happy mind, in my opinion.
In 2009, I hope to strengthen my mind, and in the process to learn to live an even happier life. My resolution this year is not one of health or financial responsibility, but it is to do everything within my power to treat all creatures, human or animal, with compassion so that they might lead a happy life as well. I hope you all have a wonderful new year, and I look forward to the next year of creativity that flows from Flickr into all of our hearts and minds :)

Few would argue there is too much contemplation occurring today. Do we even know how to think? We seem stuck in a cycle of reactionism and radicalism devoid of any kind of serious reflection. Enter Rodin and “The Thinker”, displayed here at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Mo. Rodin described his work this way:
“What makes my Thinker think is that he thinks not only with his brain, with his knitted brow … but with every muscle of his arms, back, and legs, with his clenched fist and gripping toes.”

These are the trucks that make up a majority of G.I.'s fleet. Best looking "Think Green, Think Clean" trucks out there.
Meg Mucklebones scared the hell out of me as a child. It wasn't until adulthood that I was able to watch her scenes with my eyes open. Now you too may share in my terror, albeit in Lego form.
In order to rescue the last unicorn and the girl he loves, Jack must enter the fortress of Darkness. The castle itself is surrounded by a mysterious and ominous marsh. It is here he encounters the swamp hag Meg Mucklebones.
I was really hoping Lego would have given us the Battle Droid arm in Lime Green by now. So until I find a better solution, this will have to do.
This build utilizes some custom pieces from Brickforge and BrickWarriors.
This Lego character is from the 1985 Ridley Scott film "Legend."
A little different than Rodin's famous sculpture. I'm not sure what artist made this one that sits prominently on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
Think this is allocated to the Wildlife liaison officer, certainly looking not bad for a PS 18 plate.
...just think! would ya?
I've been seeing this particular piece of graffiti around a lot. The first time I saw it was on the trail to the top of Koko Crater and then again etched onto the railway ties while going up. Later I would see it on street signs, buildings, etc., around the Hawaii Kai area (where I live). I wondered what it meant, other than the literal meaning of the word "think!" It was written the same way in this script wherever I saw it tagged. Someone had definitely thought out its design and has some purpose for scrawling it...
While parking at Costco the other day, I saw it written on the concrete base of the light post in front of my vehicle, so I snapped it with my iPhone.
Anyway, I guess we all could pause to "think!" once in a while, eh?
So, think!

I think they look like guitar strings from this vantage point!
This was taken from the observation deck of the Sears Tower, looking west.
I spent most of today on the computer at Ally's house, using Facebook and working on my script for the family program talk, which I'm giving the next two weeks at work. I'm proud of myself for having created my own script, and happy that my work trusted me to do it, based on a rough outline given to me by one of the therapists.
Anyway, I'm off to watch South Park, and I imagine I won't post another pic until Monday, since I'll be away from the Internet all weekend.
