Another old raw still I meant to get to but didn't until now.

Fun fact, this was the original concept photo for the 'think pink' challenge during BFF 3. I was going to grafitti a pink halo and angel wings onto this and call it a day, then decided to also adjusted the colors on the pants & border of the top to be pink but ultimately over thought it, got intimidated at deviating so much and ended up ultimately choosing the fun Britney inspired not quite pink enough photo instead.

Thanks to everyone that has very kindly sent in Squares for this particular Challenge. Thank you Lotti for making such a wonderful job of it too.

We are putting this Blanket on to EBAY to auction very soon.

Let you know more details when I have them.

The 'Think Pink' challenge had the BFF's putting their best 'pink' forward. Cookie's pink paradise won her the challenge and immunity. And while Devon's photo lacked pink, it was Talynn who's admission of wanting to leave, got her sent home. Only 12 BFF's remain, who will be eliminated next?

THINK PINK SERIES ... #1 of 22 ...

First in a Special Series:

LETTUCE HOPE !! (LET US HOPE !!)

Just a little note … to tell you all ... about an upcoming photo “Series” that will be transpiring here at Blythe Fifth Avenue …

A golden opportunity … or shall I say PINK opportunity has come knocking. We have opened the door and accepted the challenge :)

We, here at Blythe Fifth Avenue, will be hosting “HOPE” … the traveling Blythe … Custom by Christine of Forty Winks Doll Studio! Christine has created this lovely girl as a gift to dear sweet Mandy (aka jeds123, aka EllieMoe) … but before little HOPE ends up at her final destination in Australia, she has an international travel schedule … stopping at various places along the way … because Christine’s HOPE has a very special purpose: to promote Breast Cancer Awareness … the importance of early detection … and yes, the most important purpose … to bring HOPE to as many as she can touch with her special message, through this very special world of Blythe.

One thing I have to confess …

When the opportunity was first presented … I DID hesitate to accept. I did not think I was worthy … I did not think I could do her justice … and knowing the destinations of the others she would visit, well, let’s just say I had DOUBT … doubt of my own abilities to take this on and contribute in a manner befitting such a worthy cause, that would please both Christine and Mandy …

But then I thought … really … WHO is not WORTHY of HOPE? WHO can doubt their own HOPE? And although we all travel in our own “circles” … those circles do expand, and those circles DO connect … just like HOPE … and we all have the power to touch the life of another, in our very own special and unique fashion.

And so, in this way, little HOPE has already worked her magic on us here at Blythe Fifth Avenue! One can not participate in such a meaningful endeavor, without having HOPE affect you … surround you … and penetrate into your very being.

I also know that a lot of you may have your own personal stories of HOPE, and experiences with breast cancer at some time in your life, in your circle, or maybe even to you … as I do … which I will also be sharing along the way. I am inviting all of you to share with us, YOUR stories and experiences of HOPE in your life … because sharing this message, being here for one another, is what this is all about.

Now … my dissertation (!) would not be complete … without mention of the fact that it is conceded … it is realized … there are those who may be presently feeling a low level of all-things-HOPE … who may be wondering HOW they are going to get through the challenges of a single day … much less the upcoming weeks and months of who-knows-what. I would like to extend to you … a very special heartfelt invitation … to please stay tuned, because I know you are out there … and I need YOU … and because to me, this is NOT just for those who are already full of hope … who are already surrounded by hope … and to those whom hope seems to be inborn and comes naturally. THIS is for those who may be struggling … who may be in NEED … who may be searching … for just a little HOPE.

As we go along … we will be sharing information about real things that can be done … real places you can check out … to be informed … and to take action. Because although HOPE is a challenge … it is up to each and every one of us … to be responsible for our own inner HOPE. Not to be confused with blindly making a wish and hoping it comes true … No. You must make the effort, you must “do something”, as Mandy’s story reminds us all so well … and then, only AFTER the “work” is done … because let’s face it … faced with such an extreme challenge is NOT easy. It is NOT simple to make that appointment … much less do the “waiting” for the results. This is life’s HARD, hard knock. So when YOU have done that … knowing you have done everything physically possible that is in YOUR power … THAT is the time, to step back, take a deep breath … and surround yourself with all the support you can find … and sometimes that has to be done in spite of all odds that may be against you … THAT is HOPE.

So HERE, I present to you … Blythe Fifth Avenue’s version … representing all HOPE means to us … in the form of this gorgeous Blythe girl. Sometimes she will be silly … sometimes you may roll your eyes ;) … sometimes she will be serious … but ALL times, she will be HOPEFUL.

THANK YOU for accepting this “Think Pink” challenge, right along with us … and for accepting this invitation to come and join us, in any way, on any level you feel comfortable with … and hopefully, she will inspire you, as she has us, to keep our pretty chins UP … experience HOPE … and THINK PINK !!!

THINK PINK SERIES ... #1 of 22 ...

Featuring HOPE, the traveling BLYTHE ... created for Mandy, by Christine, of Forty Winks Doll Studio, to promote Breast Cancer Awareness ... and to spread HOPE !! (Please see flickr ALBUM, for all information on this Special "Think Pink Series".

(wow, this picture is super blurry! my apologies...)

pattern: my so called scarf by sheep in the city

yarn: rowan little big wool, color 501 (pale pink), about 2 and 1/3 balls

needles: us13 clover bamboo straights

finished: october 8, 2006

notes: I ended up only casting on 20 stitches, instead of the 30 called for in the pattern. I also used little big wool instead of the manos. but, really, it's a scarf, so I guess none of those changes really matter all that much. it was actually a faster knit than I'd originally anticipated. I'm sure the huge needles helped. at first, I thought that the stitch pattern was a bit complicated, but after a couple rows, it all seemed to flow rather nicely and I managed to crank this out in two nights. it's snuggly soft and warm! this was made for the think pink challenge for breast cancer awareness month. this will be going to a breast cancer patient to help keep her warm!

Think Pink Challenge 2006

Hearts are needle turn applique.

This quilt is made with 10 different fabrics of pink.

This is a scarf pattern that comes in the Lion Brand Homespun label. It was made in Lion Brand Homespun in Cotton Candy.

I made this for the Think Pink challenge, hosted by Soulful Knitting Ministries. It was obviously for breast cancer awareness, and was given to breast cancer victims undergoing treatment.

I also made one in lilac for a Leukemia/Lymphoma auction, which was wrapped around a giant teddy bear. It sold for like $700!

For Jess and Jen Think Pink Challenge. I don't really like this but wanted to try watercolor with Neocolor 2s. Stamp is Impression Obsession. Sentiment and background are Hero Arts.

From savethetatas.com: "The Save the Ta-tas Foundation is committed to fighting cancer at every stage—including education, prevention, research, community outreach, and emotional support for those struggling with the disease. Our first year goal is to donate no less than .90 cents per dollar to support new gene research through a partnership with The Concern Foundation. Innovative and new, our organization is determined, like its founder ta-tas® Brand Clothing, to end this devastating disease, with a smile of course! Laughter heals, save the ta-tas!" #think_pink_challenge #31daysofpink

We are making another 'Think Pink' blanket. Do you want to join us?

Today I used the Sweet Dreams stamp by House Mouse Designs. I colored with Copics and added glitter gel pen details to the lilac and leaves. I used the Wonky Stitched dies from MFT and an embossing folder for the background.

Scrumbles made "following" patterns in Jenny Dowde's book "Free Form Knitting and Crochet." Made for The Think Pink Challenge on Ravelry.

saw this in a magazine so decided to make it. I used throughout free stamps but made my card make darker pinks. I used the new Catherine Pooler stamps set called Yaya Stripes to add the dots in the middle panel. entering I to the Think Pink challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

First scrumble I did on my own--no pattern. Made for The Think Pink Challenge on Ravelry.
