One thing has been constant this year of Covid, the love of my dog, light of my life.

After a long wet winter it looks like Spring has sprung! The birds are doing their courtship rituals, pairing up, mating and planning their families...so to speak...:) After having a long day with not to much success I arrived at Ellis Creek and was rewarded with a single pair of Black-necked Stilts that made my day by doing their mating ritual and then doing 'the wild thing'...lol
Sorry that I've been out of touch for awhile...thank you for your visit and comments.

A very stressed green heron after hunting unsuccessfully in the canal. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The Rotterdam Port Authorities informed me that by night the 'thing' illuminates a part of the shore line. On my picture you can hardly see the light component.

An exposure where I wanted to include the two trees, but , what I don`t like is the great big pylon with all the power cables across the landscape.
Do I attempt to clone it all out and risk making a mess of my image ? , which I`m sure would be the case. My thought is leave it as it is part of the landscape, ugly though it is .
An exposure with a 2 stop soft grad over the sky and polariser to hold back a bit of glare on the foreground grasses and make the most of those fluffy clouds .
The sun was setting quite fast as we could finally hear the EMDs wind up for their climb away from the Potash plant and head into Bootlegger Canyon.
“It's a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack.”
Don't mind the license plate, back then I simply typed in smth awkward just to get rid off the menus, and start the adventure already. ;))

Wild thing
You make my heart sing
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
Oh Beautiful for smoggy skies, insecticided grain,
For strip-mined mountain's majesty above the asphalt plain.
America, America, man sheds his waste on thee,
And hides the pines with billboard signs, from sea to oily sea.

I never did find out on the day what this amazing looking thing was. Just time for a quick shot while I headed for a train after a day of cruising the wonderful Yarra river down to Williamstown and back. It was my first day of using the Canon 70-300 lens I had bought earlier that day.
Here is a link to Google Maps and you can drop down to street view onto the riverside path and have a look from several angles.

I was inspired to go looking for this shot in my archives after looking at an equally whimsical device up in Brisbane posted on the photostream of westernthunderer (John). Looks like it has a similar handle to be turned in order to look at something. I genuinely regret not stopping for long enough to investigate it. Perhaps a Melbournian flickr member might know a little more about it.
(Update - see the comment from Andrew below for a great link for information on this piece of art which is called "Apparatus for Transtemporal Occurrence of Impending Space" )
I spotted this sculpture on Laisvės Alėja in Kaunas, but there was no plaque in sight. Neither Mr. Google nor G.P.T. Chat could crack the mystery of its creator. Honestly, it looks like something straight out of John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) - a true classic!

"every time you kiss me i could cry" she said
"don’t tell me how you miss me
i could die tonight of a broken heart
this loneliness has changed me
we have been too far apart
and it's too late now for me to just forget
i never thought i’d need to feel regret for all i never was
but all this time alone has left me hurt and sad and lost
yeah every time you kiss me i could cry
don't tell me how you miss me
i could die tomorrow of a broken heart
