The Canon EOS 5D Mark II EF 24-105/4L IS USM was my workhorse until I got the Nikon D800 & D800E with the 70-200 mm 2.8 VR2 zoom.
Canon, Nikon, you can't go wrong with the pretty 45surf model goddesses! (Though the D800 is my new love.)

A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic journey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

Even after years of stewarding this patch of woodland, I still find bits of it that I’ve never been in before. This particular part was so thick (and unhealthy, as a result) that the only way to get in was via chainsaw. The trees that are left will grow dramatically faster than they did before.

With the black 45surf surfboard! It gets hot in the sand in the sun! Wearing a leather Buffalo Nickel Cowboy Hat! :)
Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)

Perhaps Nicholas 2nd Lord Meynell 1275-1322 unmarried . He was the son of Nicholas 1st Baron de Meinill by wife Christina (his mother & father parted under acrimonious slanders on both sides see below **)

Nicholas was born 6 December 1274 to Nicholas 1st Baron de Meinill by wife Christina (his mother & father parted under acrimonious slanders on both sides see below **)
After his father's death he did homage for his father's lands. The rights of the Archbishop of Canterbury were secured by letters patent issued on 1 April 1300. On 14 January 1299/1300 he was among the knights of the North Riding who were summoned to be at the exchequer at York to treat with the treasurer and others of the King's council. He was summoned for military service against the Scots in 1300, and in various years up to 1322, and to Parliament from 8 January 1312/3 to 14 March 1321/2, being in 1318 addressed as one of the Majores Barones. His seal is appended to the Barons' letter to the Pope, 12 February 1300/1. In 1301 it was found that he and others had not disseised the Abbot of Fountains of land in Whorlton. On 6 July 1311 he had licence to grant the reversion of the manor of Castle Leavington after the death of Christine, late the wife of his father, to John de Meinill and the heirs of his body. On 3 June 1312 he had licence to fell 200 oaks in his wood of Aldwark, forest of Galtres, and to sell them. In 1314 he was appointed custos of the peace in Cleveland, Blackhow-moor, and the wapentakes of Bulmer, Rydale and Birdforth, and in 1316 to a commission of array in the East and North Ridings. In 1314 he settled a great part of his property on Nicholas, his illegitimate son by Lucy, daughter and heir of Robert de Thweng, of Kilton, elder brother of Marmaduke, 1st Lord Thweng. In December of the same year the Archbishop of York issued a mandate ordering certain clergy, whom Nicholas de Meinill had summoned to meet him with horses and arms to start for the Scottish Marches, to neglect the summons, regarding it as a breach of ecclesiastical liberty and in April of the following year the Archbishop summoned him with fifty other knights to attend a council of war at Doncaster to provide for the safety of the North against the Scots. On 24 May 1315 he was appointed sheriff of co. York, but was superseded on 20 October. In 1315 he bought the reversion of a moiety of the manors of Wooler, Hethpool Heatherslaw, Lowick, and Belford Northumberland, on the death of Mary (widow of Nicholas de Graham) to hold to him and the heirs of his body, and failing such issue to Nicholas son of Lucy daughter of Robert de Thweng and the heirs of his body, with remainder to his own right heirs. In 1316 he surrendered the manor of Great Broughton to Rievaulx Abbey. In 131? he was commissioned to raise his men and tenants in co. York for the King's expedition against the Scots. In 1319 he complained that Robert de Colville had enclosed a wood bordering on his chace at Whorlton, and had made a salt-leap into which his own deer entered and did not return. In 1320-21 John son of William de Rosels conveyed the manor of Aislaby to him for life, with remainder to Nicholas his son by Lucy de Thweng. In 1321 he was ordered to abstain from attending the meeting of the "Good Peers" convened by Thomas, Earl of Lancaster; and in 1322 to raise men-at-arms and foot soldiers and be ready to march with them to the King. He died 26 April 1322, apparently unmarried.
++Lucia de Thwenge m1 Aug 1294 Sir William son of William de Latymer / Latimer & Alice Ledet who was excommunicated 2 Nov 1305 at the instance of his wife Lucy for not satisfying the costs of the divorce suit, but received absolution from the Pope 16 Apr 1311. In 1312 he obtained a divorce and was granted the manor of Synchyngton for his life on 20 July 1312
She had been abducted by Nicholas Meynell 2nd Lord Meynell of Whorlton Castle from Kirkburn in1304; on 4 Sep 1309 she was summoned before the Consistory Court at York on a charge of incest and adultery,

Lucy died at Molton ; her will dated 1 Jan. 1346-7 proved 1 March 1346-7 asked "to be buried at Guisborough priory "
**Nicholas d1299 m,Christine - Charges of attempting to poison her husband and of adultery with Masters William de Greenfield (later Archbishop of York) and Walter de Hamerton were made against her. Of these she purged herself before Archbishop Romeyn on 7 Dec 1290. The matter appears to have been referred to Rome, as on 9 Dec she appointed Master Guy de Novaria as her proctor at the Roman court. From the proceedings in the case between her and her husband in the ecclesiastical court it appeared, as Archbishop Romeyn wrote to the King on 29 Jan 1292/3, that although it had been said she had deserted her husband and was leading a sinful life, actually he had driven her from his home and refused to maintain her, that she was leading a moral life, and that his cruelty and not her fault had been the cause of separation. After the death of her husband pre 27th May 1299, on 21 July the escheator was ordered to deliver to Christine his widow the manor of Castle Leavington. The King granted her marriage on 13 September 1299, to Saer de Huntingfield, and on 16 November, with the heir's consent, she was assigned as dower the manor of Eston and lands in Potto (parish of Whorlton). In 1310, as widow of Nicholas de Meinill of Whorlton, she was granted by the Archbishop of York the marriage of Richard, son and heir of Sir Robert de Furneaux. She was dead before 22 January 1311/2.

John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.

Magnolia stellata, sometimes called the star magnolia, is a slow-growing shrub or small tree native to Japan. It bears large, showy white or pink flowers in early spring, before its leaves open. This species is closely related to the Kobushi magnolia (Magnolia kobus), and is treated by many botanists as a variety or even a cultivar of that. However, Magnolia stellata was accepted as a distinct species in the 1998 monograph by Hunt. This tree grows 1.5 to 2.5 m( in height, spreading to 4.6m in width at maturity. Young trees display upright oval growth, but the plants spread and mound with age. The tree blooms at a young age, with the slightly fragrant 7–10 cm (3–4 in) flowers covering the bare plant in late winter or early spring before the leaves appear. There is natural variation within the flower color, which varies from white to rich pink; the hue of pink magnolias also changes from year to year, depending on day and night air temperatures prior to and during flowering. The flowers are star-shaped, with at least 12 thin, delicate petal-like tepals—some cultivars have more than 30. The leaves open bronze-green, turning to deep green as they mature, and yellow before dropping in autumn. They are oblong and about 4 in (10 cm) long by about 1.5 in (4 cm) wide. These magnolias produce a reddish-green, knobby aggregate fruit about 2 in long that matures and opens in early autumn. Mature fruit opens by slits to reveal orange-red seeds, but the fruits often drop before developing fully. Young twigs have smooth, shiny chestnut brown bark, while the main trunks have smooth, silvery gray bark. Like the saucer magnolia (Magnolia × soulangeana), it is deciduous, revealing a twiggy, naked frame in winter. Plants have thick, fleshy roots which are found fairly close to the surface and do not tolerate much disturbance. The species Magnolia stellata may be found growing wild in certain parts of the Ise Bay area of central Honshū, Japan’s largest island, at elevations between 50m and 600m. It grows by streamsides and in moist, boggy areas with such other woody plants as Enkianthus cernuus, Corylopsis glabrescens var. gotoana and Berberis sieboldii. This hybrid was first obtained by Max Loebner of Pillnitz, Germany. Paul M. Kache designated the new hybrid in 1920, to honour Max Löbner. Numerous other varieties are produced by these parents as 'Leonard Messel' and 'Merrill'. The selection, 'Leonard Messel' was a chance hybrid that was developed at Messel's garden in Sussex, Nymans. Also on the market are white 'Ballerina' and the late-flowering white 'Merrill' that extend the loebneri season. After it was introduced to the United States in 1862 by Dr. George Robert Hall (1820-1899), this species has been widely cultivated in much of North America, and has been recorded as an established escape in a few places. It is also a commonly grown ornamental in Europe, and was first introduced to the United Kingdom in 1877 or 1878, most likely by Charles Maries, while he was collecting for Veitch Nurseries. Its compact size makes it an ideal subject for smaller gardens, where its flowers - appearing initially on bare stems - provide some much needed colour in early Spring. The cultivars 'Centennial', 'Jane Platt', and 'Royal Star' have all gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
