The Canon EOS 5D Mark II EF 24-105/4L IS USM was my workhorse until I got the Nikon D800 & D800E with the 70-200 mm 2.8 VR2 zoom.
Canon, Nikon, you can't go wrong with the pretty 45surf model goddesses! (Though the D800 is my new love.)

Svema 200, my favorite B/W film has a very strong but thin base. It is so thin it can be a challenge to load on a developing reel. Thinking a wider flange, like the one pictured on the bottom would make life a lot easier since getting it started is the hardest part. It did seem to load easier but I was having unusual problems of large areas not developing. hummmmm. So I loaded a strip in daylight and found the film was loading in the same spiral right behind itself. No more Arista reels for Svema.
The top reel is my good old faithful Paterson, I have many of these. AP, Coast and many other brands make reels very close to this design, although I have used some that do not have plastic as smooth and slick as Paterson. I really stick to the Paterson brand on these. Some consider this to be a standard reel and offer the wide flange as a premium reel.
The middle reel is a Vivitar branded reel, I don't know who really made it but I have only seen it with the Vivitar name. It works well for any film including Svema. I would love a few more of these, they are a little easier to teach newbies how to load a reel.
The bottom is the Arista Premium wide flange reel, I have seen it made under Samigon, AP, and Omega names, often referred to as a premium reel. Sorry but I need a reel to work with any film I load on it so out it went.
The short pieces of film in reels are simply there to make the loading flanges easier to see although nano_burger's comment below about film chimping is hilarious.

The pueblos were constructed around standing large blocks of stone, lessening the need to build part of the walls.
Wupatki National Monument is one of several sites preserving pueblos (villages) of ancient peoples, but unlike the Tonto, Montezuma, Casa Grande Ruins and Tuzigoot monuments which contain only one main building, here there are many ruins scattered over a large area of desert northeast of Flagstaff. The pueblos all have a distinctive deep red color and were made from thin, flat blocks of the local Moenkopi sandstone.
This is Wupatki, the largest of the pueblos in the group.

INGREDIENTS:
Cake:
2 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup bourbon or water
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
4 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, melted, cooled
1 cup chopped pecans
Chocolate Glaze:
1 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
1 teaspoon butter or margarine
1 cup powdered sugar
5 to 6 teaspoons boiling water
DIRECTIONS:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 10-inch angel food cake (tube) pan or 12-cup fluted tube cake pan.
2. In large bowl, beat all Cake ingredients except pecans with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in pecans. Pour into pan.
3. Bake 60 to 65 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
4. In 2-quart saucepan, melt 1 ounce chocolate and 1 teaspoon butter over low heat, stirring occasionally. Stir in powdered sugar and water until smooth and thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle cooled cake with Chocolate Glaze.
I saw a guy today who had to have been over seven feet tall. I'm only five feet six. I really had the urge to ask him how the air was up there....I was so tempted.....but I didn't.

There came thin clouds, and I could not complete my initial plan.
I have exchanged the compact camera from Sony DSC-RX1 to Sony DSC-RX1RM2 recently. I will use it to record sites, equipment, and others. The spacial resolution got better a bit thanks to the sensor.
exposure: 30 seconds at f/2.8 and ISO 1,000
site: 1,232m above sea level at lat. 36 55 68 North and long. 139 44 57 East near Mt. Keicyo Tochigi 栃木県鶏頂高原. Ambient temperature was around -3 degrees Celsius or 27 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind was mild. Atmospheric turbulence was bad as in the season, and guide error RMS was 1.20".

John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.
I carry a traveler notebook passport size sketchbook and a fude fountain pen in my bag. A fude fountain pen is a pen with a bent nib. It allows thin to thick lines with a twist of my hand. I had found using the fude pen allows me to be more expressive that for some reason I cannot get with a regular fountain pen. I guess equipment does matter.
