This is a pretty common shot of the Shard but it works pretty well with the dark trapezoid shape in the frame.

First time back to the London office since March 2020. It's nice to see friends, colleagues, and my old favourite places again in over a year.

The Shard has of course become an architectural icon for the city of London and anyone viewing London photos will recognise it's unmistakable shape as it towers over everything south of the river. This was taken in a side street between London Bridge station and the river.

Completed in 2012, The Shard was the tallest building in the European Union until the UK’s departure in 2020. At 309.6 meters tall it is still the tallest building in UK. The architectural design resembles a shard of glass, hence its name.

It's just perspective.

I've been off Flickr for over a week for a variety of reasons and probably will be fairly inactive for the next couple of weeks as well as we here in Britain brace ourselves for another heat wave. It is dry, dry, dry! Can't remember the last time it rained and not a drop in the forecast for the foreseeable future. So glad to see the bill being passed in the US to help with climate change but why was it so painful to get it passed. Surely we only need to look around us to know that we need to take positive impactful action.

Anyway, I'm speechifying which isn't what Flickr is for. Stay cool everyone.
