he Shadows, with Cliff Richard, dominated British popular music in the late 1950s and early 1960s in the years before the Beatles. The Shadows' number one hits included "Apache", "Kon-Tiki", "Wonderful Land", "Foot Tapper" and "Dance On!". Although these and most of their best-remembered hits were instrumentals, the group also recorded occasional vocal numbers, and hit the UK top ten with the group-sung "Don't Make My Baby Blue" in 1965. Four other vocal songs by the Shadows also made the UK charts. They disbanded in 1968, but reunited in the 1970s for further commercial success.
There is a house in Reykjavik
Looks as it is rising out of the lake
The postmodern house may look like a giant
They call it city hall.

Oh my shadow, please come to the light
I would show you my world,
Oh my shadow, please come to the light
We could read newspaper together
Oh my shadow, please come to the light
We could watch the episodes of human beings
My world is held in as much excitement as confusion
What is my world, when compared to yours that
awaits you

Bicycles
Although I don’t ride a bike, well not at least for 40 odd years, there is something satisfying about a bike. It’s solid, reliable (mainly), an art form, it has a place in our society, an environmental champion, a pleasure and a serious competitor.
There aren’t many things in life that fulfil those criteria, there will always be those detractors but for me the bike is a hero.
Now from Rome.
It was Sunday morning in June
Trees in my neighborhood smell fine
I like the grey and blue shadows
The shadow areas have no volume
The two walls have no shadows on rainy days
The sunlight often create a decorative pattern
I like the shadow abstract paintings from the sun
The shadow areas have higher saturation of dark

Like some people in the south I would like to walk barefoot on the beach in the silence. Every evening, I would like to watch the sun fall into the sea. Here, in the north it is too dark, cold and windy. At the moment the sky is different, it has got a dark yellow colours.

I like the shadow paintings of the tree
That shadow areas are relatively flat and dark
The walls have these paintings on sunny days
Sunlight paintings on the white house

Mother Nature, we believe in you
The sun was shining, no clouds
From the north, all the cold wind
I was walking on the ground
It was much surprise to see the flowers
In the spirit of fire and ice.
Small purple flowers, unexpected

Italy – Rome 2015
We went to Italy in May 2015, stayed in the Cavour area of Rome. A fantastic holiday, the food was terrific, the people very helpful, brilliant Architecture, Gardens and Sculpture. I was in my element. This is one of many postings. Just a brilliant country to return to and we did. A series of silhouettes and shadows from the Piazza del Popolo.
The season, the light, the snow, and life - they all shift with time. I signed and actually "bought" my house today. I feel the whole world shifting (and no, that's not just the wee toast we had to celebrate.)
Red Fireworks.
People welcome the new year with fireworks and party.

Happy New Year 2014.

.................................................
My Temple greets me with silence,
where the fresh air is cool inside the ancient walls,
All the fuss was left behind,
To a tired soul, the church is like a reward.
There are no calls, vain speeches,
slander and screams are unthinkable
, the flame of golden candles flickers,
faces come to life on dark boards.
Their kindness flows from the icons,
Under the eyes of the Saints, I tremble a little
and the bell tolls in my heart
when I bare my soul before God.
Banners are quietly splashing behind my back,
I will bow my knees at the Royal Gates.
From the throne, God talks to me,
I will repent to him of my idleness and laziness.
My temple greets me with silence,
Old icons are familiar to the eye.
All the fuss was left behind,
This is a different world and it has its own laws.

A couple stroll through Chinatown in Sydney on a Sunday afternoon. Fortunate to have encountered some terrific evening light coupled with the smoke from the nearby restaurants which has given this picture the mysterious feel that it has.

What is our favourite Bob Dylan song of all time?
That's the Question!
Looking through the window I am thinking about Bob Dylan song, Not dark yet. Behind every beautiful thing, there's been some kind of pain. It is for me a brilliant thought not an obvious thought. My opinion is that Dylan is one of the greatest songwriter and musician. His extraordinary voice is just the greatest for every song he writes. At the moment, Not dark yet, is my favourite Bob Dylan song.
Here is the brilliant lyric by Bob Dylan:
Not dark yet.
Shadows are falling and I been here all day
It's too hot to sleep and time is running away
Feel like my soul has turned into steel
I've still got the scars that the sun didn't let me heal
There's not even room enough to be anywhere
It's not dark yet, but it's getting there
Well my sense of humanity is going down the drain
Behind every beautiful thing, there's been some kind of pain
She wrote me a letter and she wrote it so kind
She put down in writin' what was in her mind
I just don't see why I should even care
It's not dark yet, but it's getting there
Well I been to London and I been to gay Paree
I followed the river and I got to the sea
I've been down to the bottom of a whirlpool of lies
I ain't lookin' for nothin' in anyone's eyes
Sometimes my burden is more than I can bear
It's not dark yet, but it's getting there
I was born here and I'll die here, against my will
I know it looks like I'm movin' but I'm standin' still
Every nerve in my body is so naked and numb
I can't even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don't even hear the murmur of a prayer
It's not dark yet, but it's getting there
Hlif by the Pond in Reykjavik
Here, I am standing by the pond at midnight. The sun is setting down and I am thinking about those summer nights. The street runs along the edge of the small pond and is lined up with houses built in the 40s. You might think it is in these endless summer nights in the North that we need to sleep with sunglasses. That is not necessary because the long days become a part of our daily life and people get more mental activity and strength during that time. That is why summer is my favorite season of the year.
