These two male great blue herons had a confrontation over the nest at lower right. The bird on the right was on the nest calling out presumably to a mate when the other male showed up. The second male was chased off and the first male continued its calls.

These are also spoons, however the other sides, so they could very well be forks or knives ;-)

Have a great day everyone!

These two Belted Galloway bulls were trying to impress the heifers this morning. The heifers left the rivals to get on with it.

Sometimes I see potential in a photo for these effects. Sometimes I just go willy nilly and see what happens. Sometimes I just put the photo in the trash and start over.

This is done using a layer mask and blur effect in Photoshop Elements.

Happy Slider Sunday

These very tame birds were on Coochimudlo Island just off Brisbane

~ these green spots on the front are blurred leaves of another tree ...

These are not the most liked birds in the world but they do have an amazing amount of colour in them in a certain light.

Got their freedom Sept. 15,

I will wit for their return with more nectar bearing flowers,

These teeny, seemingly fragile, very beautiful little Rosemary flowers are on a little plant in a 4" pot in the greenhouse. Is at max 1:1 magnification and also taken in aps-c, so effectively 1.5x, but with a 1.0 d.o.f. and a bit of a crop thrown in.

They were pretty awkward to photograph - I took some photos first and then uploaded in order to get an idea of what they were like, which didn't really help that much as even with the 20x was difficult to tell what was what on these pretty complex flowers, then I took a lot of various little flowers and angles but only a couple worth keeping. A bit hit and miss to say the least :^)

See Maaddi's Gorgeous Take

We found our place

On the branch of an old gum tree

Our feet would sway

To a voice in the breeze

And birds would sing

On the banks of a narrow stream

These memories will stay with me

We made our way

To a hill beside the sea

With salt in the air

And sand on our feet

We felt the sun

As it burned upon our skin

These memories will stay with me

Now I am far away

These memories still remain

Now I'm far away

You stay with me the same

Now I'm far away

These memories still remain

Happy Sunday!

These little birds love to forage on the ground.

These seven elusive islands lie north of the popular Pink Granite Coast, but few humans set foot on them. Monks tried to establish a foothold, but gave up. The main occupants are the seabirds that congregate here to nest in vast numbers.

These little Goslings put a smile on my face and I hope they will for you <3

Thank-you to all who take the time to comment on my photos, it is greatly appreciated ! <3

And did you feel it,

in your heart,

how it pertained to everything?

These were the last tasks in our painting course before the summer holidays. Our painting teacher brought us a couple of photos of birds that we were supposed to use as templates, but then freely and newly interpret them in an imaginative and colorful way on an abstract background. Acrylic on canvas, each 30x40 cm

See these guys all the time and really do not bother so much in the way of photographing them, but think that that will change.

Have a great day, a safe day, and thanks as always for visiting.

These are the months we see these beautiful trees blooming in many states of the country. In the park in front of my house they use to bloom between March and April.

These are the sunsets I don't get to see in the summer when the trees are in full bloom.

It's coming round again

The slowly creeping hand

Of time and its command

Soon enough it comes

and settles in its place

Its shadow in my face

Puts pressure in my day

This life well it's slipping right through my hands

These days turned out nothing like I had planned

It's coming round again

The slowly creeping hand

Of time and its demands

It settles in its place

Its shadow in my face

Undignified and lame

This life well it's slipping right through my hands

These days turned out nothing like I had planned

Control well it's slipping right through my hands

These days turned out nothing like I had planned

Soon enough it comes

Soon enough it comes

To tie us down

These abstract lines always caught my attention, so I couldn’t resist taking this shot when walking past it with my camera
