A pearl crescent butterfly (Phyciodes theros) on flower of coral fountain (Russelia equiselifolia) at the Tucson Botanical Gardens in Tucson, Arizona.

Sometimes called the bleeding-heart monkey or the gelada baboon, is a species of Old World monkey found only in the Ethiopian Highlands, living at elevations of 1,800–4,400 m (5,900–14,400 ft) above sea level. It is the only living member of the genus Theropithecus, a name derived from the Greek root words for "beast-ape" (θηρο-πίθηκος : thēro-píthēkos). Like its close relatives in genus Papio, the baboons, it is largely terrestrial, spending much of its time foraging in grasslands, with grasses comprising up to 90% of its diet.

Xanthi, Greece

This is the first stupa to be built in the country after the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. Built in the time of king Devamnampiyatissa (250BC – 210BC) this was a stupa as well as an Aramic complex (monastery). Today ruins of this complex covers nearly 3 ½ acres. The stupa was built on the instructions of Mahinda Thero who brought Buddhism to the island to enshrine the right collar bone of Lord Buddha.

~ Thanthirimale Temple ~

According to folklore, Saliya, son of the great king Dutugemunu, who was expelled from the royal family for the reason of marrying Ashokamala, lived in Thanthirimale for years. Eventually, the couple was forgiven by the king and gifted with a golden necklace having a shape of a butterfly known as “Thanthiri”. It is believed the name Thanthirimale was derived in relation to that.

Kudakongaskada Wmalagnana thero, who pioneered revamping this place of worship for the general public in 1960s, is considered as the leader of the modern days of this temple. The thereo was assasinated by terrorists in 1992. Thereafter, ven Thanthirimale Chandrarathana thero became the incumbent.

He told me there is no "bad weather" in buddhism. Everything is good, so he taught me. I really liked this positive point of view :)
