Like flower-lovers, there are some flowers you never get tired of photographing. Rosos are one of them, but I think Pulsatilla is the best.

They are very fotogenic, they are unusual, bloom only a few weeks during April May. Hard to find, its harder its desirable are they.

This year I got no pictures of the white Pulsatilla vernalis, but early tomorrow I will try.

The bag is packed, the batteries are charging, the thermos should be filled with coffee, the car filled with gasoline.

Some people chase unusual birds to shoot during May, I am enjoying flowers !!

Yesterday, on the last spur of moment, we decided to visit Niagara Falls to see the illumined falls. It was freezing cold, minus 12 C. Having a thermos filled with hot tea helped a lot to keep us warm!!! It was a long and cold night.

My Hahnel Giga T Pro II got stuck and none of the buttons worked: the price you pay for working in the freezing temperatures, I guess. I had to go to plan B. Here there is the result.

Here, during the dark season it is wonderful with snow, giving light, and if we also get a sunny day, it's great to go out with warm boots and thick gloves on, some hot wine in a thermos to drink during a break. Just enjoy the beauty.

I've been very good this year so Santa bought me with my money a nice Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro lens and the rest of the family chipped in and bought me the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 thermos for my photographic expeditions. I am so happy to receive both :-)))))))

He was walking along looking at the birds, I was waiting till he reached this spot, As it begins to seriously heat up here in the Sonora desert I try to start my morning bike rides about an hour before sunrise and always bring a camera. On this morning i also brought a thermos of tea and some cinnamon toast so Lakeside Park was a good place to stop.Early rides also means less people to avoid due to the pandemic.

Harold come in early and carries a thermos of reglars to the barn. He don’t talk to no one. He gets straight to chores. The girls calm down when feeding gets done. The only noise is cows chewing and the start up of milking. Harold gets most of the chores done before the boys can get to work. Danny and Kenny work hard, but don’t much work get done when Harold is late. Harold is never late unless his rig is broke.

Reglar is coffee taken the regular way; with one cream and two sugars. Maple syrup if you got any left.

Some time around 8 we stopped on an island, broke out the thermos and drank coffee, while my brother (ever the fisherman) tried his luck with the fishes, but they weren't interested. For me this was a photo opp too good to miss.

but this was a different scene, these two were just flying side by side, enjoying the thermos...it was very cool to see.

relics from the days gone by, love finding a setup and when it is the good I cannot pass it up, found tucked away in American Hatfield shop at the Rose District in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.

A Crimson-breasted shrike makes off with a crust while my guide caught the action with my Panasonic camera. Sharing the challenges and joy of photographing birds helped ease the tension between us in our short break under the trees.

For those who are interested, an extract from this day's Journal.

"Ruby set up a table and two chairs under a tree with low hanging branches. She brought out a thermos of hot water, tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits (cookies for my north American friends), and our minds turned to refreshments. There were birds in the upper branches, but very soon their minds turned to refreshments as well. In next to no time small and hungry birds were all around us. I had the feeling this wasn't the first time people had stopped here for some light refreshments.

Pied Crows, Southern Pale Chanting, a Goss Hawk and Cape Sparrows were joined by Crimson-breasted shrikes, Familiar chats, Ruppels Korhaans and Tit-babblers. This was a bird watcher's picnic, even if it was impossible to get shots of all the birds. The birds attracted other tour vehicles and very soon we were overrun by camera toting tourists from far and wide. The tourists came and the birds departed, it was as simple as that. We drank our now cold drinks and pushed on.

From here we retraced our drive through the sand to Deadvlei where we picked up the bitumen road back to our private entrance to Kulala Game Reserve. We drove in silence and along the way I fell asleep, Ruby was not best pleased, but I'd been awake since 3AM and my body clock was struggling to adjust to to time difference.

Ruby said I should have a siesta after lunch; she would see me a 5 for our afternoon drive."

I love to go to the City beach and see the sun rise. Sometimes I take a thermos with a few drops of coffee and just enjoy the scenery. The right set of clothing is a must..... Its november........ and the sun sets at 08:18 today......

In the summer, in june, I have to be there at 04:23.

On this get away, I knew there is only one place to buy food in the National Park, so I cut some sandwiches, packed them in a plastic lunch box, and filled a thermos with coffee. Along the way I found a spot to stop for lunch, which is where I met the modern day descendants of the dinosaurs. Somehow it was appropriate in a landscape that were formed 635 million years ago.

No sooner had I unpacked my lunch and I was swarmed by a flock of Apostle Birds. They crowded around and onto my lunch box and meant to have my sandwiches. When I took one out to eat, they dive bombed me, trying to steal my food. Being a kind person, I shared my lunch, but they really meant to have it all for themselves.

The Apostle Bird (Struthidea cinerea) is a quick-moving, gray or black bird about 33 cm (13") long. It is native to Australia where it lives in woodlands, eating insects and seeds at, or near, ground level. They're also habituated to humans and will happily eat anything a human eats. They often travel in groups of about 12; hence the name Apostle Bird. They're intelligent, gregarious and socially co-operative.

Each group generally containing only one breeding pair, the rest being either their helper offspring, kin or unrelated adult birds. Most group members help construct a mud nest, share in incubation of the eggs, and defense of the nest. Once the eggs are hatched, all members of the group help feed the chicks and keep the nest clean.

Next time I'll pack loaves and fishes to feed the whole Apostle family.

Hartford County, Connecticut

I can't be sure that this is the same Eagle I photographed just a couple of hours earlier, but considering that the earlier Eagle was working on its nest (a few miles away), I was struck by the fact that this guy was perched high up in a tree in between the Home Depot and Lowes stores in Manchester, Connecticut. Clearly , he/she was contemplating which store would suit its nest remodeling needs best. I captured this image from the parking lot of Lowes.

I only happend to notice this bird because I was sipping coffee from my thermos in another parking lot in front of the Trader Joe's store in which I had just shopped. From that distance, it looked like it might be a large raptor in the tree across the way.

Stopped for a thermos of coffee and a snack while out cutting a Christmas tree and this little guy and his pal turned up immediately' ... begging for food. First one almost flew in through the driver's side open window!

There aren't many birds around these parts in the winter time so it's always a pleasure to see these gregarious little guys.

Aria freddissima, decisamente gelida,, mani e piedi semi-congelati nonostante l'abbigliamento . Abbandonare il caldo letto alle 5 del mattino, camminare per oltre un'ora lungo un sentiero ghiacciato in un bosco di montagna, nel buio fitto di un mattino d'inverno con la torcia accesa per vedere bene dove appoggiare i piedi...per poi aspettare che pian piano si accenda la luce del giorno sorseggiando tè caldo dalla thermos in compagnia di una persona speciale.. A faint wind was pushing ripples over the surface of the water and had me scampering along the shore looking for a calm spot where I could better capture the reflections of the hills. I found a likely spot, settled down, opened my thermos of coffee and waited for the sun. It was bitterly cold, a thin skin of ice beginning to form on the still parts of loch.

After taking this shot I set off down the land rover track running parallel to the loch side towards a snow covered Ben Chonzie, happily popping any frozen puddles I passed with my hiking pole.

Trying out an 'organised' flatlay instead of my normal more organic approach.
