The House of Coal ('Haus der Kohle') - 1964 architect: Siegfried Reitz - is one of the few high-quality buildings of the "building-like" 1960s in Aachen. However, significant parts of the most important ground monument of the spa and bathing city of Aachen were sacrificed for this building. At that time, too, there was no serious attempt to save the Roman Buchel thermal baths that stretched over the building plot. Less than 10 years after the EBV's (Eschweiler Bergwerks-Verein) “flagship” was built at this exposed location in the upper center of the Aachen coalfield, the gradual closure of the mines began.

Loutráki, also known as Pózar, an area situated at 110 km from Thessaloniki and only 40 km from Edessa, the capital of Pella and one of the most beautiful cities of Greece thanks to the water streams that run through it and rush over the cliffs to form two waterfalls, with the higher and more spectacular one at 70m.
At the foot of Voras (Kaimaktsalan) Mountain, the thermal baths facilities of Pózar comprise 48 individual baths, 6 indoor pools, the outdoor pool (12x25m) hamams, jacuzzi and spa services. Recommended for rheumatic, dermatological, gynecological, and respiratory and circulatory system conditions, the hot springs of Pózar are beneficiary for everybody’s health and well-being not just while bathing in them, but also when drinking their water.
The volcano Antisana is 5700 meters high. It is a Stratovulkan and is located in the area of the eastern Cordilleras in Ecuador. The volcano is active, which is why clear, cold water and hot and mineral water are emerging from its rocks. In a side valley you can find the most beautiful thermal baths. Rarely has a clear mountain view. We were very lucky, because the glaciers of the Antisana appeared close to the sun.

Giornata di benessere alle terme. Le ultime pagine gialle che ho trovato erano datate 2006. Quanto era moderno, magari addirittura all' avanguardia, meno di venti anni fa, oggi è abbandonato, inoperoso, dimenticato. Ecco le rovine della modernità.

Hotel Bania is a hotel located in Białka Tatrzańska, with access to thermal waters and located next to the Kotelnica ski slope. Its name comes from an Old Hungarian word meaning mine or gentle hill.
The famous hotel Sarlitza at Loutropoli Thermis village some kilometers north of Mytilene town.
The hotel was built in 1909 and closed its doors in 1982. Situated in a beautiful setting distinguished by its architecture and the services offered to its clients. Among these were the thermal baths from the hot springs of Thermi village.
After the liberation of Mytilene in 1912, the hotel hosts Eleftherios Venizelos, Rear Admiral Paul Kountouriotis and other important personalities of the time, remaining a reference point in the region. In the Asia Minor Catastrophe, hotel and thermal baths pass to the Greek State and then, in 1925, to the National Bank.

The Friedrichsbad, in Baden-Baden
De style Renaissance et considéré comme l'établissement de bains le plus moderne d'Europe, le Friedrichsbad de Baden-Baden a été construit suite à une loi de la Confédération d'Allemagne du Nord en 1868. Cette loi interdisait les jeux de hasard, ce qui mettait en péril les revenus du casino. Afin d'éviter la ruine économique, Baden-Baden a modernisé ses installations thermales et balnéaires vieillissantes. La ville disposait de sources minérales chaudes et de moyens financiers. L'inspecteur des bâtiments du district Carl Dernfeld dirigea le projet, qui comprenait des installations thermiques modernes et une architecture ambitieuse. Après la démolition d'un quartier de la vieille ville sur le site historique du Florentinerberg, sur lequel les Romains avaient déjà construit leurs thermes, le plus important établissement thermal allemand de la seconde moitié du 19e siècle - le Friedrichsbad - vit le jour entre 1869 et 1877.
Renaissance-style and considered the most modern bathing establishment in Europe, the Friedrichsbad Baden-Baden was built following a law passed by the North German Confederation in 1868. This law prohibited gambling, which jeopardized the casino's revenues. To avoid economic ruin, Baden-Baden modernized its aging spa and bathing facilities. The town had hot mineral springs and financial resources. District building inspector Carl Dernfeld led the project, which included modern thermal facilities and ambitious architecture. After the demolition of a section of the old town on the historic Florentinerberg, where the Romans had already built their baths, the most important German spa of the second half of the 19th century—the Friedrichsbad—was built between 1869 and 1877.

Le Complexe Blue Lagoon, Norðurljósavegur, 241, Grindavík, Islande.
Ce complexe regroupe sauna, steam room et hot waterfall. Il a été créé en 1999 pour utiliser l’accumulation d’eau générée par une centrale thermique située dans la péninsule volcanique de Reykjanes. C’est sans aucun doute le lieu touristique le plus visité d’Islande.
Situé à 25 km de l’aéroport de Reykjavik, il offre une expérience mémorable: se baigner dans une piscine naturelle en plein cœur d’un paysage volcanique formé d'un champ de lave noire. La baignade se fait dans l'eau du Blue Lagoon (37ºC) dont la couleur bleu-vert vient des algues présentes et la propriété exfoliante vient des minéraux et de la silice présents en suspension.

The water was a very pleasant 27 degrees Celsius the day I visited which was a welcome break from the October chill.
The Hofsós thermal bath / pool is quite simply magnificent, and the views over to Drangey Island are breathtaking. Arguably the most beautiful swimming pool in Iceland, it is designed by the same architect responsible for the famous Blue Lagoon.
Hofsós is one of the oldest trading ports in northern Iceland dating back to the 16th century. The tiny village was a rather busy trading post in the 17th and 18th century, but despite the merchant activities this small village did not develop into a larger village or a town in the 20th century.
Auch in Italien gibt es sie die Lost Places, vier haben wir besucht, in zwei war kein reinkommen, einer war nicht mehr so schön teilweise verwüstet, dafür hat sich dieser aber einigermaßen gelohnt.

Bassin principal du temple balnéaire des Nouveaux thermes de Caracalla au Römerplatz 1 à Baden-Baden, Land de Bade-Wurtemberg, en Allemagne.
Ces thermes plus récents et comptant pas moins de 7 bassins proposent une remise en forme selon une méthode paradisiaque grâce aux eaux thermales qui jaillissent de 12 sources thermales bienfaisantes depuis une profondeur de 2000 m et procurent un plaisir balnéaire inoubliable sur 4000m².…
Les thermes offrent ainsi de la détente dans ses piscines d'eau chauffée où on trouve des bassins à bulles, des chutes d’eau ou des canaux à courant qui procurent d’agréables jets de massage, que ce soit dans la piscine extérieure ou dans l’eau bleue du bassin intérieur encadré de superbes colonnes de marbre dans le temple balnéaire en verre. Ce dernier propose aussi un séjour dans les grottes romantiques à l’eau chaude ou froide.
Entre le vignoble badois et la dense Forêt-Noire au sud, Baden-Baden, malgré son atmosphère un peu compassée, est l'une des plus élégantes stations thermales d'Allemagne. La ville qui a pour origine une colonie romaine "Civitas Aurelia Aquentis", appelée simplement Aquae, créée vers l'an 80 sur le site d'une ancienne implantation celte, aurait été fréquentée par l'empereur Caracalla (188-217) pour soigner ses rhumatismes.
Au 19e siècle, elle sera surnommée la "capitale d'été de l'Europe" quand les têtes couronnées, du Portugal à la Russie en passant par l'Angleterre (reine Victoria), ainsi que les célébrités, telles Mark Twain, viennent s'y retrouver pour soigner leur santé et fréquenter le casino. La ville devient ainsi le lieu de grandes rencontres au sommet, la plus célèbre fut celle des "trois empereurs" en 1863: François-Joseph d'Autriche, Alexandre II de Russie et pour la France, Napoléon III.
Tout l'univers élégant qui gravitait à Baden-Baden disparut en même temps que la Belle Époque dans le fracas de la Première Guerre mondiale mais la ville comme une relique opulente, continue de témoigner de ce que fut la poursuite du plaisir par l'élite d'une Europe qui n'est plus. Les nouveaux thermes de Caracalla comptent d'ailleurs parmi les hauts lieux de la ville de même que son casino et son théâtre inauguré en 1862.
