My son and I took a trip to the bulk food store. All the Valentine's candy and gift boxes were out. My son was certain Peanut would fit in the Love Bug. I wasn't so sure. She barely fit in it.

Volkswagen Beetle from the 60's. Adolf Hitler contracted Ferdinand Porsche in 1934 to design and build this cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for the new road network of Germany.

This is the 1963 Volkswagen Beetle driven in Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005) by Lindsay Lohan. The Disney movies with Herbie were always favorites of mine.

I don't know how many of these exist in southern California, but I don't think this one is exclusive. I could be wrong. But a few times I saw one with the same markings in the parking garage of USC Medical School. So either a teacher, or a student had a great sense of humor. Or maybe Herbie was actually attending medical school, who knows?
Finally done! I fxed some issues and also added opening doors to the cabrio.

Growing up I saw MANY Herbie movies by Walt Disney. This mock-up poster has Herbie meeting the Mandalorian and the Child in SPACE! Listed in the cast are folks who all appeared in Disney films and all were equally excellent actors in their own right. The credits for Producer, Writer and Director were actually those of Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo.

Why is Herbie 53?
Herbie wears the number 53 because of Dodger star Don Drysdale. Bill Walsh, producer of The Love Bug, came up with the blue and red racing stripes and gave the cute car No. 53 in honor of one of his favorite ballplayers. The pitcher threw 58 2⁄3 consecutive scoreless innings in 1968.
Herbie is a 1/6th scale, radio controlled car, from 2005's Herbie Fully Loaded. Herbie The Love Bug was produced by Planet Toys.

this is my moc based of the VW beetle from the famous movie series "Herbie". this car is made to minifigure scale and fits 1 minifigure. this vehicle is one of the hardest cars to recreate at a small scale because of all the smooth curves, but I think I did a good job.

I have now begun to introduce a new way of presenting the cars. What do you think of the packaging included/photoshopped alongside the model? It is slightly cut at the edge to make it look like its "behind" the model. Somehow I like it this way.
Or else its only the car and nothing else, like before, which can be quite dull. Hmm.
Rare full metal body. HotWheels has forgotten on how to make a toy car to roll properly, again.
