{Summer 2009/Qatar}~
Blue ice under a steely sky with a fresh snow storm on the way - theincredible landscape of Jökulsárlón on the south coast of Iceland.
Looks best on black.
Comments as always appreciated, but please no flashy award codes.
An innocent and meek little girl seeing in the mirror the superhero that she really is; taken for the Flickr Friday group theme, "Joy."
Strobist/technical info:
The action figures are 2.5-inches tall and are a 2-image focus stack composite; the mirror frame is a 4-image focus stack composite. The room was created in GIMP 2.10.
The action figures were illuminated by two Nikon SB900 and one SB700 speedlights. The SB900's were placed 60° CL and 30° CR, three-feet away and 20-inches above the subjects. The CL SB900 was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄4 power; the CR SB900 was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄8 power. Both were fired through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes. The SB700 was placed behind and to the left of the subjects and fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄32 power with a snoot for rim light.
The mirror frame was illuminated by one SB900 placed 45° CR and fired in Manual mode @ 1/16 power through the same Neewer soft box.
The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X's; the SB700 was placed in SU-4 mode and triggered by the other flashes.

Opps - By mistake, I made 2 x 5" cakes instead of making one smaller 4" for the top tier. Couldn't put any of the buildings on top tier!! It was the lack of sleep - courtesy of my two boys...
Birthday boy's favourite color is orange.
As requested by winning the vote 33 to 12... Frozone! Not sure about this design... Face was difficult since he has a long face which does not fit fully onto a round head. May sculpt the head later (along with mr incredible)... hell... why not do what the simpsons figs did and make the whole thing lol (later).
All painted onto white body and head. (Mouth might need re-doing) oh and paint jobs a lil messy. Next update will also have his ice skates.
With lego releasing images of its new minifig series, naturally I couldn't let them out-do me on my sig fig. That being said, i gotta give it to them, regardless of minor boot size/scale issues etc. Their version is fantastic.
Fig on right is photoshoped, but Will be painted (with added hairpiece). I will probably also smooth over his torso paint, as its old and bumpy.
Love legos, arm and boot detailing.... BUT THEY FORGOT HIS DOUBLE COLOURED CAPE!! ... gah...
Let me know what you think
Group 1 of Incredibles figures. All will be updated/repainted. Remaining 4 figs: Mrs Incredible, Violet, Dash and Island Guard.
Went with the red suit, as I had the parts for thy on hand. It was difficult getting his torso shape right without making him look to feminine. I'm still surprised how well the symbol turned out. Next uploads will be in a week.
Today's movie is brought to you by Quincy and Casey.
Casey chose The Incredibles and Quincy chose Inside Out.
Both are fun movies
Heres my old custom for Mr Incredible. When the official fig comes out, it will be bye bye custom hairpiece and I will probably re-do the face. Other than the fact it uses my old non-smooth paints, I love this torso.
Not particularly happy with the finished look, but wanted to upload before TLG's version came out, so I could say I did it first lol.
As always comments aprreciated.
Proper photo of my final mr incredible. Torso is exactly the same, head is completely re-done and waaay better than previous. However not perfect, as the incredibles really don't have translatable friendly faces lol
Hair is also re-cut until I get an official hairpiece which will probably work better.
Final upload of the night.
Anyone want to see a blue suit variant made?
My final upgrade to my 8 month old figure. The new hairpiece makes such a big difference... At some point in the future I may re-paint a new torso and legs so they're smoother, but use the exact same design.
My thanks to D23 for including me in their 23 Days of Disney Christmas. It's an honor to be among these fantastic artist! D23 members can download all the artwork and even enter for a chance to win a print! cdn.media.d23.com/html/d23christmasmicro/index22.html#d23
Kawaii style version of The Incredibles. I couldn't decide which format worked the best for these characters. Let me know what you think! This is what I call the Trading Card style and features Edna Mode. I'll probably add the other characters to this one eventually.
Literally my favorite dolls to come out of the D23 expo and I'm so happy to finally have them after thinking USPS lost them 😑
Anyway, I can't wait to see what else they do with the Pixar collection! I'd love to see Carl and Ellie (maybe like their younger selves painting the mailbox as a D23 and their aged selves in their chairs as a public release??) Alfredo, Colette and Remy, Merida....ugh the list goes on and on!
