The Annual Scheveningen Fireworks Festival kicked of with a beautiful show of the Austrian team

This magnificent Japanese Garden which is located in Clingendael Park in The Hague and Due to its fragility, the garden can be visited only during a short period of the year, from end of April to mid June. The vibrant colors and the Intoxicating aromas of the flowers make the visit an unforgettable experience not to be missed.

The Japanese Garden was created in the beginning of the 20th century by the former owner of the country estate of Clingendael, Marguérite M. Baroness van Brienen (1871-1939), also called Lady Daisy. Lady Daisy sailed off a number of times by ship to Japan and brought back to the Netherlands a number of lanterns, a water cask, sculptures, the pavilion, the little bridges and several plants.

The original design with the serene pond, meandering brook and the winding pathways has remained intact all these years.

The Municipality of The Hague has always taken great care of the Japanese Garden because of its uniqueness and tremendous historical value. The garden was placed on the list of national historical monuments in 2001.

Contribution to Smile on Saturday, from the archives, over-processed of course, look how the windows participate in that processing.

'I am now in a world where I

Have to hide my heart and what I believe in

But somehow I will show the world

What's inside my heart and be loved for who I am

When will my reflection show who I am inside?.... '

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One day The Eastman Kodak Company developed the user-friendly Kodachrome snapshot camera. The day the whole world started taking pictures. And the concept of "Kodak color" was born. The digital age has supplanted photo films. Kodak's photo-specific development process no longer exists and Kodak's own colors were lost forever.

The "Retrospective art project" is based on bringing back the atmosphere from the Kodachrome era and individually composing the necessary colors for each photo by hand. After all, every photo is a time shot with its own values that can never be captured in filters. It's not a canned soup. It is a time-consuming work with a lot of satisfaction. For months I had the time to study the work of the Belgian Magnum photographer Harry Gruyaert. Mesmerized I can look at his photos. He has become my great example in watching and creating. The name "Retrospective art project" is therefore inspired by him. The photos are no bigger than they were at that time and therefore not intended to be blown up.
