Picasso’s portraits of Marie-Therese Walter (1909-1977) are often identified by the figure’s blonde mane, rose flesh , and voluptuous curves. Here, she is the exemplar of fertility, with wide hips and a well-defined bosom. This role is echoed in the blossoming flowers that surround the sleeping muse.

One of my favorite portraits out of everything I've shot so far.

One of my favorite Canadian artists, Charles Comfort also designed the figures adorning the facade and stainless steel medallions of the 1937 Toronto Stock Exchange Building, images of which can be found on my photo stream.

We've both been short-timing it this week, as if the end of the week was the beginning of a weeklong staycation, and not just the 3-day weekend it is. As a result, we took one picture today and it was of the brand new John Zorn Dreamers album. The packaging is glorious, all shiny and rainbow-y, with tiny stars and planets engraved in the paper. (The album itself is also glorious, of course, but that's to be expected from this group.) While not taking better pictures than this, we were lolling around watching Chuck and reveling in a rare Wednesday pasta dinner. We're going to be so shocked when we have to go to work again after just 3 days off. Sigh.
