First a light layer of PanPastel....Then I go in with Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencil and Prismacolor Verithin......the key for me is LAYERS....you can always add but taking away is a pain...so I do layer upon layer of coloured pencil to get the details.

Loving my Little bird design.....added some love with the little hearts....super sweet

Excited to do a glow in the dark egg hunt with my girls! What are your Easter traditions? I know its not for a week but feeling in the Easter Mood. Just finished up my girls easter baskets can't wait until they see them! My oldest (5years) says to me the other day "mom I have good news and bad news, the good news is the easter Bunny was in the yard when we were sleeping I think he was checking the shed to see what we already have, the bad news is he pooped in the yard" LOL (We have deer visit throughout the winter but she doesn't need to know its deer poop)

So folks I am back to it....I've dusted myself off...given my head a shake and am ready........The business part of my art was clouding my head and overtaking the joy. Feeling inspired as my new fur baby was born a few days ago...I'm adopting a purebred Seal Point Siamese Kitten and am over the moon.....The kitty will be with mommy for the next 8-12 weeks and then she will be coming home to live with the Pike's.

Really Grateful for the help my husband gives me with the kids... Sheena Pike ART would not be possible without his help, I was able to get an entire day of *~ CrEaTing *~ and Barnstorming thanks to him. Our girls are both fighting off a cold so it was extra awesome of him to watch the kids today.

This collection is pushing me to take my skills further by applying animal like characteristics/features to the portraits while maintaining the original subjects features......I'm approaching this as if I am "face painting" the portrait once its drawn.......having so much fun applying illustrative details and style.....
