2013 went pretty fast, didn't it? An afternoon may drag on forever, but the years? They fly by, faster and faster. Things are happening, and sparks are flying everywhere, while we stumble about, blinded by the smoke and trying to put out the fires that seem to spring up out of nowhere.
In reality, seen from a little distance, with a dash of perspective, it's obvious where the little fires are coming from, and the wonder is how were we not killed in the explosion.. But most of don't take the time to step outside ourselves, and have a look at the bigger picture.
They say when you are lost in a forest, one of the first things you should do is climb a tree or a hill, to get a look about, and get the lay of the land - choose a destination, and avoid the places that look like trouble.. It's a good plan - if you're a good climber...
I think now is as good a time as any to have a look around.. And if you need help getting up to the first branches, let me know and I'll give you a boost. Then you can give me a hand up and we'll see what we can see... Hey look! I can see my house!!

David Hockney at The Royal Academy. One of the best exhibitions I've seen in a long while.
Holga 120gfn, Kodak Portra 400
This is the first roll of the new Portra 400 I've used and I've found it a little too saturated, for my taste, compared with my usual Fuji Superia 400. I've got a roll in the Hassy it'll be interesting to compare the two.

There is space and opportunity. Find your goal and take that shot!
A straight down shot of a football field up on the Jabal Akhdhar mountains in Oman. It was intriguing to see a game at such an altitude. The only regret was not staying back to play!
