An Easter Egg hunt has been organised in London. There are over two hundred of these eggs across London, decorated by different artists. We saw a few and this one is by Patrick Mavros. It is called "Don't Break the Egg". All the eggs are for sale by auction on the web site, but you may need a few thousand pounds!

(It is in a perspex case, hence the strange reflections you can see)

Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt in support of Starship is back in New Zealand for Easter!

www.thebigegghunt.co.nz/about/

Over the past few weeks the hut was on to find the 19 decorative eggs around the city. I managed to track them all done. They had the some Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt. It was fun finding them. Christchurch New Zealand.

The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt will raise funds for the Starship Foundation, a social-profit organisation which supports the national children’s hospital to provide world-leading care for more than 120,000 patient visits each year. The eggs will be auctioned off for Starship, 80 of them on Trade Me, and 20 at a gala cocktail event on 31 March. As principal sponsor, Whittaker’s is committed to contributing at least $150,000 to Starship Foundation through an on-pack promotion with its top-selling Creamy Milk block, which features a wrapper designed by a Starship patient.

The Big Egg Hunt concept first came about in London in 2012 to engage the public in a fun and interactive way while fundraising for charity. Since then The Big Egg Hunt has grown to include Dublin, New York and New Zealand. It is believed to be the biggest egg hunt of its kind worldwide.

A pretty cool egg by Rob & Nick Carter, formerly on the ground floor lobby of Tower 42.

Description:

The Romero Britto designed Fabergé Egg exemplifies the artist’s goal of transmitting happiness and joy through his colorful and Pop-art creations. This collaboration with Fabergé resulted in a vibrant marriage of elegant tradition and contemporary art.

Benjamin Shine's clever egg design was one of my favourites and also much loved by other egg hunters and chancers.

Phew, another 12 eggs uploaded now, finishing on this gem. I hope you're enjoying them. Not too many to go now before I get back to the flutterbys etc!

Another public art trail, this in aid of Elephant Family. I no longer have the time or energy to complete whole trails so this series is, necessarily, a selection of the sculptures I could reach.

Undoubtedly the most (unneccessarily) elaborate title of any egg I saw. Furthermore, I disagree with the structure of the text which I believe should read 'now only' rather than 'only now' which, semantically, conveys an entirely different meaning.

Description:

The concept for this egg was to encircle it with a rainbow that represents joy, diversity and positive spirit. The title, "Be Yourself Because Everyone Else is Taken," a quote by Oscar Wilde, encourages a celebration of each person's special identity. Wilde was courageous in expressing himself freely and urged everyone to do the same and express their own inner truth as something unique.

This egg was a small one. I was told that it was originally inside a large egg which would unfold like a lotus flower, but it was damaged in transit.

Martin Handford's egg was very popular. If only the little blighter didn't keep moving around every few days. I was lucky to bump into him at Canary Wharf... purely by chance (didn't even check his FB page or anything!).

Description:

Brownstones and row houses are some of the most extraordinary buildings found in the beautiful neighborhoods of New York City. I wanted to create a tribute for these iconic structures by illustrating them on my egg.

Description:

When asked to create something for the Big Egg Hunt, I was delighted to be able to contribute to the Studio in a School program. I have always admired what Studio in a School has been able to accomplish for the students, artist and community, so the effort on my part was with a sense of supporting something I consider to be very important.

Description:

Creating the egg made me think of how gender plays a role in society even today, being born male or female predetermines one's destiny.

On a walk around the city to see what I may find March 24, 2014 Christchurch New Zealand..A beautiful Autumn day.

One hundred giant eggs were hidden in secret locations throughout Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch overnight to kickstart an Easter egg hunt.

Dozens of volunteers helped to hide the eggs - which have been decorated by people including Dick Frizzell, Dame Trelise Cooper and Colin Mathura-Jeffree - for the Whittaker's Big Egg Hunt that runs until April 22.

It supports the Starship Foundation, a charity supporting the national children's hospital.

Each egg has a unique code on it that can be texted in to win the overall prize, a 340g 18ct Whittaker's Gold Slab made by Partridge Jewellers.

The giant eggs will be auctioned off for the Starship, 80 on Trade Me and the rest at a gala event on April 16.

Whittaker's will also give at least $150,000 to the Starship from sales of its Peanut Slabs and other chocolate during the hunt.

Starship Foundation chief executive Brad Clark said extraordinary creativity had gone into the eggs - "from realism to abstract, to dinosaurs hatching, stainless-steel sculpture, a bunny biplane and so much more".
