If you think that the aurora is just green, then think again. There are a whole multitude of colours found in the northern lights, with green simply being the most commonly seen. Here you can see quite a spectrum above Jökulsárlón ice lagoon in southern Iceland.
Heading back to Iceland in two weeks with Greg Annandale and we'll be meeting up with one of my photographic heros, Dave Morrow.

Another portrait from a recent tfp shoot in London with Purpleport model Isabella Rose ( www.instagram.com/p/DAJm-DOuXjr/ ). We nearly postponed as it was raining on the morning of the shoot, I'm glad we didn't though as whilst we were a bit limited by conditions I think we got some great shots including this one taken near the Barbican.
Isabella is new to modelling but she seems to be taking to it like a duck to water. Her enthusiasm and natural posing ability were impressive and I'd happily shoot with her again some time soon.

I met Shauna about 2 years ago while she was the current Miss Teen Ventura County International during a local parade. I’ve photographed her at charity events, pageants, etc since then, but it wasn’t until this last week that I had some 1 on 1 time with her. Or rather… 11 on 1. Her new agency in Hollywood asked her to get new headshots and referred her to a photographer. She needed some headshots for editorial work, and then some other shots which showed a more commercial look to her. I’m not going to mention how much the photographer they referred her to was charging, but upon asking me, I said, “how about we trade – you let me and my students photograph you during class next Wednesday and you can have any photos we take for free”.
This photo I took of her was in the middle of the courtyard, and the crazy children on the playground were bokeh’d out by my Nikkor 85mm 1.4D lens. (Yes, bokeh can be a verb).
She and her agent were thrilled with the shots. The kids students also enjoyed watching a pro me in action, describing all the minute details of why I do things a certain way.
In fact… NEXT Wednesday, July 27th, we will be having our field trip out at the Ventura pier. Probably get there around 6pm and shoot until sunset. If you’re roaming around and want to hang out with a crusty old photographer with spiky hair, bowling shirt and crooked smile us, you’re more than welcome to just show up.
