This colourful landmark in David Crombie Park is part of Community Fabric, a public art installation created by Jamii in collaboration with artist Andrew Patterson. Each letter of THE ESPLANADE is wrapped in a different textile pattern inspired by cultures from around the world — from Madras checks and Kente cloth to Ukrainian embroidery, Chilean Aymara weaving, Eritrean Tigrigna motifs, and more.
The artwork reflects the neighbourhood’s identity: a vibrant community woven together from many backgrounds, languages, and histories. Jamii’s goal was to celebrate the people who call The Esplanade home, honouring the diversity that shaped the area during the 1970s St. Lawrence neighbourhood redevelopment and continues to define it today.

Als ich Kind war nahmen mich meine Eltern mit in ein Gemeinschaftsatelier in Wien in dem damals auch Erwin Wurm arbeitete. Der Besuch dieses Ateliers war nicht wegen Erwin Wurm und es war kein Kauf eines Bildes geplant. An der Auswahl hatte ich auch Anteil, wurde um meine Meinung gefragt,...
Stichwort Zuckerl-Rosa-Kitsch Kitsch-Rosa Rosa-Kitsch - Fotos von rosa angehauchten Bergen, Sonnenuntergängen, Sonnenaufgängen unter anderem auch rosa, etc. werden haufenweise geschossen. Zu dieser Zeit des Jahres (Advent) werden wir besonders von Kitsch überflutet - vom Weihnachts-Markt-Kitsch, und das geht dann nahtlos über in den Rosa-Glücks-Schweinderl-Kitsch.

Das aggressive Rot gilt als Farbe der Männer. Rosa ist das kleine Rot und galt damit als Farbe der kleinen Männer - klein im Sinne von noch nicht erwachsen, also männliches Kind, Junge,….

der Herr Erwin Wurm war sich nicht zu gut,... / dem Herrn Erwin Wurm waren meine Eltern nicht zu minder....
Ein anderer läßt seine Bilder übertiteln mit "some things and people count, most don`t", und da sind die Bilder dann auch am richtigen Ort, denn auch selbst folgt er diesem Motto. Sein Name ist nicht Wurm, aber was für ein armer Wurm ist er (Redewendung "armer Wurm") - denn das Ergebnis solch Verhaltens sieht man: außer sich selbst zu wiederholen, sich selbst zu kopieren und andere blocken und dann sich bedienen, fällt ihm seit langem nichts mehr ein (Erbsen, Erbsendiät und Halluzinieren, wahnsinnig werden: darüber schrieb schon der Büchner - Schullektüre "Woyzeck", siehe auch uploads aus meinem Soufflierbuch "Woyzeck", siehe auch Diät - Schwarzkogler).... Ein armer Wurm, der nicht erkennt wohin "most things and people don`t count" führt, der nicht erkennt, daß blocken und den Dialog zu verweigern (und den anderen dann als Verbrecher hinzustellen um das eigene Gewissen zu beruhigen) eine Sackgasse ist, der nicht erkennt daß es gerade darum geht genau mit jenen einen Dialog zu führen, und zwar einen Dialog auf Augenhöhe….
Storyline, Querverweise, Parallelen, rote Fäden, die sich durchziehen, nicht abreissen, Fäden die sich kreuzen, Ablauf, kein Sprung, Verlauf, Dramaturgie: Tonbänder aus meiner Jugendzeit zum Jubiläum "Programmaustausch Europäischer Rundfunkanstalten" Jahrgang 67 wie ich. Darauf folgte ebenfalls etwas aus meiner Vergangenheit: das Union West Wien Triptych - dort war ich gemeinsam mit der Tochter der Wäschereibesitzer. Dann das Diptych Blick aus dem Küchenfenster in den Hinterhof auf das Swimmingpool genau jener Wäscherei.
