For 23 years I was a Texan who had never held or shot--much less own--a gun. Today, my friend Nathan fixed that with a visit to the shooting range. For all my clumsiness and ditz-prone behaviors, I have now proven that I can, indeed, hit the broad side of a barn.

In short: I think the Beatles quote says it all.....

Ann Richards memorial plaque on Congress Avenue Bridge - 28 Dec. 2024

My daughter has worked for many many hours to rebuild her swing over the past several months. Her form has improved immensely! Here you see a hard hit hot shot that unfortunately was right at the opposing short stop. Her next at bat yielded a stand up triple that might have cleared the fence on some fields. Unfortunately, I failed to capture that shot!

My home office is full of Texas stuff. I'm trying to figure out how to live in Austin half the year and Seattle the other half.

Yep, I reckon I got me some cowboy hats. And this ain't all of 'em. The dark brown 'un is ma fave-or-ite.

I was born in Monahans, lived in Canyon, Pampa, Dallas, Houston, Webster, Clear Lake, Austin, and Wickett.

Line-up of retro gas and air pumps.

My favorite shot from a team practice - I love the effort and the lighting (cloudy day and the light was soft and available for high shutter speeds.

Opened in Austin, Texas July 3, 1884, Brackenridge Hospital closes it's doors May 21, 2017. The hospital, renamed Dell Seton Medical Center relocates to it's new facility across the street, forever changing Austin's history after 133 years of service.

Texas Pride Photo by David Block

Continuation of my antique series from the bbq joint. You don't see these old telephone booths anymore, except maybe England. I peeked inside and there was no phone which was disappointing but I loved the look of the paint peeling and the splotches of yellow mixed in with the red. I chose this angle because I wanted the "telephone" sign to be prominent and also give the viewer a glimpse of the inside.

Today is George HW Bush and Hump Day

Austen made an awesome Bob Dobbs stencil and I used it to spray paint this semi thrashed deck my friend gave me. It used to be Texas pride themed and I opted to keep the caption on the bottom lip.
