Maharajalela oh serabutnya
Di lorong kota itu masih ada sendamu
Sedang bersyair merdu terus menyusuri
Oh fantasi ngeri sebelum nafas terhenti
Simpangan kota ini bangkitlah engkau dari mimpi-mimpi"

Carcosa Seri Negara is a luxury hotel on two adjacent hills inside the Lake Gardens park in Kuala Lumpur. It is owned by the Malaysian Government. The hotel includes two colonial mansions, one named Carcosa, the other Seri Negara.
The Carcosa mansion was built in 1896-1897 as the official residence of Sir Frank Athelstane Swettenham the first British High Commissioners in Malaya of the then Resident-General of the Federated Malay States. It was designed by Arthur Charles Norman a senior government architect of the Public Works Department in Malaya, at a cost of about $25,000. With the eclectic fusion of Neo-Gothic and Tudor styles, the residence has more than eight bedrooms including master bedroom and guest rooms; and eleven bathrooms.
It became a hotel in 1989.
Seri Negara or Beautiful Country in Malay, was originally known as the Governor's Residence when it was opened in 1913 as the official guest house of Governor of the Straits Settlement. It was later known as the King's House.
King's House was vacated by the British High Commissioner on August 31, 1957, and returned to the Malayan Government. It was then opened as the Istana Tetamu or Guest's Palace hosting many a visiting dignitary. In 1989, when it was combined with Carcosa into a luxury hotel, the building was renamed Seri Negara.
Choice of name explained by Sir Frank Swettenham.
To the Editor of “British Malaya” [British Malaya, May 1936]
SIR,
In the April magazine your correspondent in Malaya asks me, in courteous terms, to tell him why I gave the name “Carcosa” to the house that was designed and built for me at Kuala Lumpur by the late Mr. C.E. Spooner, assisted by Mr. A.B. Hubback – as he was in those days – and I have no objection to answer the question even though the simple truth may spoil a number of excellent stories. When this house was finished and occupied I read a book which interested me. It was called “The King in Yellow” and at the beginning of this book there were some verses with a note explaining that they came from Cassilda’s song in “The King in Yellow”, Act 1, Scene 2. Here are two verses: -
“Strange is the night where black stars rise, And twin moons circle in the skies, But the stranger still is Lost Carcosa.”
“Song of my soul, my voice is dead; Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed Shall dry and die in Lost Carcosa.”
I did not call the Resident General’s dwelling “Government House,” or “King’s House,” because neither seemed an appropriate name in Protected States. I did not give it a Malay name, because it was to be the residence of a British Officer; so I took a book name as has often been done before.
As to the word Carcosa, I imagine it was the Castle of the King in Yellow, but the book explains nothing about either the place or its occupant. That apparently can be found in the play, to which there are only occasional allusions. Probably it is a word created by the author’s fancy, though it looks like a combination of the Italian words cara and casa and would mean “desirable dwelling,” as indeed I found it.
The only curious fact is that this name was prophetic for, as I understand, the house has lost its name and is thus, “Lost Carcosa.” The occupant, I am told, is now styled “F.S,” instead of “R.G.”
Yours obediently, FRANK SWETTENHAM
19 April, 1936.
One of Carcosa Seri Negara's trademarks is the English afternoon tea, served in the elegant drawing room, or on the charming wrap-around verandah, overlooking the beautiful gardens. It is served daily.
With Malaysian independence imminent in September 1956, the Chief Minister of Malaya, Tunku Abdul Rahman, presented the deeds of Carcosa and its 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land to the British Government as a gift, a token of goodwill. He moved a resolution in the Federal Legislative Council which read, "That this Council approve of the proposal to make a free gift of the house and buildings known as "Carcosa", together with the gardens and land attached, as a token of the goodwill of the Malayan people to Her Majesty's Government, for use as the residence and office of the future representative of that government in an Independent Federation."
Carcosa then became residence to a succession of British High Commissioners.
The Carcosa “issue” was taken up by young radical politicians, in particular one Anwar Ibrahim. "By 1987, my father had highlighted the absurdity of letting go of such massive 40 acres (160,000 m2) of prime land to the British and successfully led the campaign for the Malaysian government to own it, yet again".
Carcosa was returned to the Government of Malaysia in 1987. It was the official residence for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, when the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 1989 was held in Kuala Lumpur.

13/3/10 - Kompleks Sri Perdana, Putrajaya - Sebelum beredar, para tetamu sempat bergambar bersama Perdana Menteri dan isteri di ruang tangga.
1. Sepanjang pertunangan, dia tidak pernah ajak berbincang cara nak bentuk keluarga solehah. Tetapi, asyik fikir mana nak bulan madu. Nak buat teknik macam2.
Saya lari balik Semenanjung. Dia tidak pujuk. Lepas pantang saya terima surat cerai. Dia tidak pernah tahu macam mana rupa anaknya.
4. Beli cincin pertunangan duit saya, belanja hantaran pun duit saya.Sekarang duit ansuran rumah, kereta, susu anak, belanja dapur semua di bahu saya. Dia cuma beri “benih” sahaja.
6. Bapa tak pernah mengajar saya sembahyang dan puasa. Suami pun sama juga. Terpulanglah kepada saya nak dalami ilmu agama sendiri.
7. Ramai menuduh saya jahat apabila bercerai dahulu. Bekas suami memang nampak warak, tetapi siapa pun tidak tahu saya merana kerana suami mahu seks tiap2 malam dan suka liwat saya.
9. Suami tetap ‘mahu’ walaupun ketika saya datang bulan. Jika tidak dituruti dia mengancam mahu cari perempuan lain.
10. Saya dipukul suami ketika mengandung anak kedua dahulu kerana saya tidak mahu beri dia duit yang saya kumpul untuk belanja bersalin. Dia penganggur dan gila main muzik sahaja. Duit tu dia nak beli gitar.
11. Bekas suami saya dahulu memang kacak, kaya dan berkedudukan. Namun, saya lebih rela bercerai kerana dia ketagih hubungan seks sesama jenis.
12. Saya rasa benar-benar terhina kerana suami mengabaikan keluarga apabila asyik bercinta dengan “maknyah”.
15. Suami tidak mengaku anak lelaki bongsu zuriatnya, walaupun muka si anak 99.9% muka dia. Semua kerana suami cemburu sangat pada bos saya. Biarlah dia terus menfitnah saya kalau itu memberi kepuasan kepadanya.
16. Saya dah tak larat menasihati suami supaya sembahyang. Bulan puasa dia suruh saya masak macam biasa. Anak2 keliru melihat gelagat bapa mereka. Saya didik lain, si bapa tunjuk “contoh” lain.
17. Apabila marah, suami suka mengungkit setiap sen yang dibelanjaa untuk saya, sampaikan tambang haji saya ke Makkah yang dia bayarkan 3 tahun dahulu masih terus diungkit setiapkali bergaduh..
18. Suami tetap mahu saya masak macam biasa, hubungan seks 2-3 x seminggu dan rumah tidak boleh bersepah… walaupun saya sedang sarat mengandung..
19. Setiap kali mengandung, pandai2lah saya berjimat cermat untuk belanja bersalin. Apabila dah sampai waktu nak beranak, kemas kain baju sendiri, tahan teksi, pergi hospital sendiri.
20. Memang saya bengkak kerana suami sanggup memaki hamun saya depan anak kerana tidak memandu berhati2 sehingga kemalangan dan merosakkan kereta kesayangannya.
21. Siapa tidak sayang emak. Tetapi, saya tidak boleh tahan kalau suami sanggup bergolok-bergadai semata2 mahu penuhi hajat emaknya yg berselera besar. Duit gajinya tak pernah cukup sebab bayar hutang kad. Terpaksalah saya menyara anak2.
22. Kalau anak nak minta duit beli buku sekolah, suami asyik kata ‘takde duit’. Saya perhatikan saja gelagat. Nak tengok sampai setakat mana ‘lemaknya’.
23. Suami gila beli nombor ekor. Biasanya, dia suka tulis angka 1-10,letak di dalam mangkuk buat cabutan. lepas tu kalau ada nombor yg mengena, 2-3 hari tak keluar bawak teksi.
24. Tabiat suami saya memang pelik. Kalau ada masalah saja mesti cari bomoh, lepas itu tanam macam2 jenis tangkal, mesti dia nak pergi ‘bersangkak’ .
25. Sewaktu bercinta mmg saya tahu suami kaki judi tetapi dia berjanji nak berhenti lepas kahwin. Tak cukup gaji, barang kemas saya digadaikan. Orang datang tuntut hutang perkara biasa ~ pernah rumah kami dibaling tahi.
Kadang2 sampai setahun. Saya tak perlu cari kerana tahu mesti dia di Serenti. Biasanya, dia kena ‘serkup’ waktu tengah tarik ganja dengan kawan2.
28. Anak ke-3 kami terencat sedikit.
29. Suami saya memang warak. Sembahyang tak pernah tinggal. Tetapi, saya tidak boleh tahan panas barannya. Kalau marah, habis dibaling barang2 rumah. Kalau pukul, anak dibaling macam bola.
30. Pernah saya nasihat suami jangan suka terima rasuah. Dia degil. Mula2 cuma hamper, kemudian barang kemas. Akhir sekali duit berpuluh2 ribu. Apabila dia kena cekup polis saya nak kata apa?
32. Dulu hidup kami senang juga. Tetapi, selepas suami kena buang kerja sebab ketagih dadah dan selalu ponteng kerja, terpaksalah saya kerja kilang nak sara anak2.
33. Kalau seronok beristeri muda, mengapa mesti nak banding2kan kehebatan si madu di ranjang dengan saya? Tak puas lagi menyakitkan hati saya selama ini?
34. Kami memang miskin. Saya buat macam2 benda untuk tambah pendapatan. Jualan langsung, buat kuih, jual nasi lemak, jaga anak orang, upah sembat baju kurung. Suami saya lain pula ceritanya.
35. Bab duit ringgit saya tak nafikan suami memang bertanggungjawab. Saya dapat banglo besar, kereta besar, belanja mewah. Tetapi jiwa saya kering. Suami sayang anak, tetapi masih membiarkan saya melihat “gigitan cinta” perempuan lain di badannya.
36. Pakcik saya memang hebat sewaktu muda. Kacak, bijak dan kerja besar. Isteri 2-3 orang, kekasih keliling pinggang. Anak ramai. Tetapi selepas pencen, dia papa kedana sebab duit KWSP habis bayar hutang.
40. Selepas 15 tahun berkahwin, rasa2nya gelaran saya sudah berubah. Dahulu ‘isteri’ sekarang ‘pengurus anak-anak’. Hubungan dengan suami amat dingin. Kami hanya bercakap perkara penting sahaja. Hubungan seks hanya 2-3 bulan sekali. Itupun saya yang ‘terhegeh-hegeh’ . Saya pelik benar kerana dia bukan kaki perempuan dan memang confirm tiada isteri lain.
InsyaALLAH..
Selamat Hari Raya to all Muslims throughout the world.. mainly citizens friends who work hard at flickr... Ma'af Zahir and Bathin..

ALOR SETAR, 2 June 2014 – Kedah’s state capital of Alor Setar will see its old city quarter undergo a facelift with the arrival of a new hotel by the international value hotel group Tune Hotels.
Bangunan HBR in Jalan Langgar here will be refurbished to house the 88-room Tune Hotel Alor Setar that is scheduled for opening by the end of November this year.
A signing ceremony was held today between HBR Group and Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Rakyat) for a RM12 million financing facility for the project.
Group CEO Khairil Akmal Hanafi signed for HBR Group while Bank Rakyat was represented by Senior Vice President for Corporate Banking Abdul Razak Abu Bakar. The ceremony was witnessed by State Executive Councillor for Tourism Dato’ Mohd Rawi Abd Hamid.
HBR Group is a second generation family business founded by the late Dato’ Haji Hanafi Ramli in 1977 and now moving aggressively towards hospitality and property development business as part of the group’s transformation programme initiated by Khairil Akmal back in 2012.
Khairil said: “We are very pleased to be working with Tune Hotels in bringing its internationally renowned brand and expertise into Alor Setar. This is a highly anticipated project which I am sure everyone in Alor Setar and Kedah in general will be proud of. This hotel will certainly provide a boost to tourism in the state.”
Meanwhile, Group CEO of Tune Hotels Mark Lankester said: “Tune Hotel Alor Setar is a unique project for the state, HBR Group and ourselves. The art deco design of the building isn’t often found in Malaysia and we intend to preserve much of it, much in the same way many of the hotels in Miami, Florida have been realised. Naturally we will be adding all the modern conveniences and flair that you will have seen with the recent openings in Malaysia of the Tune Hotels in klia2, Taiping and imminently, Cyberjaya.”
“For our chain, we have been looking to connect Northern-most Peninsular Malaysia to Southern Thailand, where we have the Tune Hotel in Hat Yai and Phuket. This opportunity does precisely that and having hotels in both cities perfectly compliments the needs of our guests,” added Mark.
Tune Hotel Alor Setar will be the group’s second property in Kedah, after Tune Hotel Kulim in the southern part of the state. Other Tune Hotels located in the northern region include in George Town, Penang and Taiping, Perak.
Most of the rooms at Tune Hotel Alor Setar will feature an individual private garden set in a balcony overseeing the city, the first of its kind in Alor Setar.
The new Tune Hotel will be in close proximity to all the major Kedah state government offices, the new Alor Setar railway station and Pekan Rabu, the city’s popular regional product community market. Historic and iconic buildings and monuments like Masjid Zahir, Balai Seni, the Royal Museum and the 165-metre Alor Setar Tower are within a short distance from the hotel.
Kedah, located in the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia bordering Thailand, is best known as the country’s rice bowl due to its vast and developed paddy plantations. Tourism has become an increasingly significant contributor to the state’s economy, which together with Penang, Perlis and northern Perak form the Northern Corridor Economic Region.
Tune Hotels is part of Tune Group, a lifestyle business conglomerate co-founded by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, who are the Group CEO and Executive Chairman respectively of Asia’s largest low cost carrier the AirAsia Group.

TUNE HOTELS TO ARRIVE IN ALOR SETAR
State capital’s old quarter set for a facelift
Photos can be downloaded from www.flickr.com/tunehotels.
There are currently 45 Tune Hotels available for booking across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, England, Scotland, Australia, India and Japan.

2 sudu besar tepung gandum
1 sudu besar serbuk koko
Sedikit garam
152gm biskut oreo yang dipatah suku
Cara menyediakan:
1.Panaskan ketuhar pada suhu 180 darjah selsius.
2.Sediakan loyang berukuran empat segi yang digris.
3.Cairkan mentega dengan suhu sederhana kemudian angkat masukkan coklat cincang dan kacau sehingga coklat cair.
4.Pukul telur, kuning telur dan esen vanila sehingga kembang.
5.Masukkan gula perang dan pukul hingga bergaul rata. Kemudian tuang coklat cair ditepi mangkuk untuk mengurangkan buih udara.
