Un Tesseract est un cube à 4 dimensions, 5, si on compte le temps. C'est un objet mathématique qu'il n'est pas possible de recréer dans un monde en 3 dimensions... mais on peut en avoir l'illusion, en créant une boite faite uniquement de miroirs.

In de wiskunde wordt met de tesseract de vierdimensionale versie van de kubus aangeduid. Zoals het vierkant zich verhoudt tot de kubus, zou verhoudt de kubus zich tot de tesseract. Het Franse collectief 1024 architecture geeft met behulp van licht een impressie van deze dynamische vorm.
In een open steigerconstructie zijn tientallen projectoren aangebracht die in alle richtingen kunnen draaien. Binnen de kubusvorm suggereren de lichtbundels een futuristische wereld. Het werk van 1024 architectuur is in feite geen sculptuur meer, maar beweging zelf: een continue ontwikkeling van vorm en ruimte.
De installatie laat ons anders kijken naar de stedelijke omgeving en geeft letterlijk een extra dimensie aan de dagelijkse realiteit. Net als de kubus kunnen alle vaste vormen worden omgezet in een vierde dimensie. Hoe zou de wereld er dan uit zien?
