VITICULTURE :
La commune a son terroir classé en AOC et produit des vins Coteaux-des-baux-en-provencenotes. Cette AOC a été reconnue par un décret du 20 avril 1995 pour les vins rouges et rosés. (...) Un décret daté du 24 décembre 1985 permit l’utilisation de la dénomination générique « Les Baux de Provence » reconnaissant l’identité spécifique de ce vignoble de la région des Baux concernant sept communes du massif des Alpilles. Sa production est de 15 500 hectolitres par an dont 75 % en rouge et 25 % en rosé30.
Le vin de pays des Alpilles (...) a vocation à labelliser, après dégustation, les vins ne pouvant postuler à l'appellation d'origine coteaux-des-baux-de-provence. Il existe deux autres IGP moins connues: Méditerranée et Bouches-du-Rhône. La dernière IGP peut produire de très grands vins sous ce label : c'est le cas du domaine de Trevallon. Jusqu'en 2000, le vin de pays des Alpilles portait le nom de vin de pays de la Petite Crau. La production est d'environ 6 000 hectolitres par an. Son vignoble, installé sur un plateau caillouteux, est limité, au Nord, par la Durance et au Sud, par les Alpilles.

Au pied de la barre portant le château, vous distinguerez en agrandissant la photo une chapelle étrangement et spectaculairement édifiée contre un énorme rocher. Il s'agit de la chapelle de Trémaïé (des Trois Marie) :
"Comme le rocher se trouve dans une position instable, menaçant de continuer à rouler, une chapelle lui est accolée depuis le XIXè siècle, 1845 précisément, afin de le stabiliser complètement. De 1830, début du culte catholique lié aux Trémaïé, jusqu'à 1910 environ, les habitants des Baux y effectuaient un pèlerinage tous les 25 mai. Pour l'occasion, ils portaient une petite statue polychrome représentant la barque sur laquelle [selon la légende] les Trois Maries débarquèrent en Provence. Participer à ce pèlerinage était moins onéreux pour les habitants des Alpilles que d'effectuer le pèlerinage aux Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer en Camargue." Le Beaujolais du terroir et de la création
Territoire viticole s’il en est, le Beaujolais s’attache, depuis une quinzaine d’années, à favoriser une production de qualité. Les cinq domaines producteurs de Beaujolais AOP à Oingt ne font pas exception et espèrent, comme leurs confrères des villages voisins, voir la spécificité du terroir des Pierres Dorées prochainement reconnue par une appellation propre. En attendant cette reconnaissance, ils peuvent s’appuyer sur le label "Vignobles et découvertes" qui distingue le Beaujolais des Pierres Dorées et ses villages comme une véritable destination touristique et viticole. Artistes peintres, calligraphe, créateurs de bijoux, vitrailliste, potier, tisserande… Aux côtés des vignerons, c’est aussi la quinzaine d’artisans d’art et galeristes qui, depuis leurs ateliers aménagés avec goût, font vivre le village et attirent des visiteurs passionnés d’art et de patrimoine. Aujourd’hui, Oingt est tout aussi reconnu pour sa vocation viticole que pour la qualité et la diversité de ses ateliers d’artistes. Il est également le seul village du Rhône à figurer parmi Les Plus Beaux Villages de France ! A une trentaine de kilomètres seulement du village, les habitants de Lyon ne s’y trompent pas : ils ont fait d’Oingt l’une de leurs destinations de proximité favorites !

Unfortunately no longer there it was in a great spot on the High Line not far from the Chelsea Market...shame.
My eye was drawn to the architectural details here, especially the enclosed pedestrian bridge overhead, but my curiosity was piqued by the pink sign, "Terroir," on what appears to be a repurposed shipping container. The word seems very close to "terror" or "terrace," but is actually a French word for the environmental conditions, especially soil and climate, in which grapes are grown and that give a wine its unique flavor and aroma. The Internet tells me that "Terroir On The Porch" is a very popular winebar where crowds gather in the warm weather to watch the sun set over the Hudson River and New York Harbor. It's the only venue on the High Line that has a liquor license, and is rumored to be way over-priced. -- W. 15th Street on the High Line, NYC -- March 28, 2019

Lorsqu'on a l'occasion de faire une visite le dimanche matin au Marché fermier de Clevedon, petit village situé au sud-est d'Auckland, je me régale toujours. Il y a toujours des choses du terroir à goutter, à boire, à manger et à voir, à l'image de cette fleur d'Orchidée Phalaenopsis d'un blanc intense.

I come from NZ but live in Australia but home is always is home. I had the good fortune to do a short visit there last week and of course I headed for the mountains in which I grew up and where I feel most comfortable. I left my parents place at 3.50am and arrived at the car park at 5,30 and then walked / tramped 90 mins up into the mountains with no one around. A storm was brewing.
I shot this image of the Torlese Mountain range using the 70-200 lens on my Nikon D810. I managed to capture the clouds moving in cutting off the sunlight.
I will be heading back in late May for some more adventure.

Le Mont-Saint-Michel est une commune française située dans le département de la Manche et la région Basse-Normandie qui tire son nom d’un îlot rocheux consacré à saint Michel où s’élève aujourd’hui l’abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel.
L’architecture du Mont-Saint-Michel et sa baie en font le site touristique le plus fréquenté de Normandie et le deuxième de France (après l'Île-de-France) avec plus de 3 000 000 de visiteurs chaque année (3 250 000 en 2006). Une statue de saint Michel placée au sommet de l’église abbatiale culmine à 170 mètres au-dessus du rivage. Élément majeur, l'abbaye et ses dépendances sont classées au titre des monuments historiques par la liste de 1862 (60 autres constructions étant protégées par la suite) ; la commune et la baie figurant depuis 19796 sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO.
En 2010, la commune comptait 43 habitants, appelés les Montois.
Mont Saint-Michel is a rocky tidal island 247 acres (100 ha) in size, and is a commune in Normandy, France. It is located approximately one kilometre (just over half a mile) off the country's northwestern coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. The island's highest point is 92 metres (301 feet) above sea level. The population of the island is 44, as of 2009.
The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times, and since the eighth century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. The structural composition of the town exemplifies the feudal society that constructed it. On top God, the abbey and monastery, below this the Great halls, then stores and housing, and at the bottom, outside the walls, fishermen and farmers housing.
One of France's most recognisable landmarks, Mont Saint-Michel and its bay are part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and more than 3 million people visit it each year.

The United Nations affiliated World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden, has been completed. Architecture firms Terroir and Kim Utzon Arkitekter have created a new building featuring a jagged facade of glass and aluminum. The project involved the renovation and extension of the century-old harbormaster's building, creating approximately 6,000 square meters of teaching and office spaces for an institution focusing on maritime education and research. The existing building – known as “Tornhuset” – was completed in 1910 as the main office for Malmö's harbor administration.
The original building remains largely intact and contains the majority of the offices. The extension is tacked onto its exterior and the void between the two structures houses circulation and social areas. Teaching spaces are accommodated in the extension, including a sunken auditorium at ground floor level that is open to and accessible from the full-height atrium.
