The interior spaces of Crystal Bridges primarily serve to link with the 'nature' outside or protect works of art.
There's not really any dramatic lighting. I've seen construction done with more care. There are a few things going on that I don't really get conceptually.
BUT (and it's a big but, I cannot lie) the structure on this collection of buildings is simply exquisite.
These plywood slats work very well to conceal the mechanicals, and the way the concrete columns penetrate the field of plywood is quite nice.
The density of the columns is because they are supporting a heavy 'green' roof above.

This is the 'grand hall.' Some sort of reception area, methinks. It's a very good space. I absolutely love this layered articulated roof/ceiling structure.
A trip to the open, but still under construction, Crystal Bridges by Safdie. This is the first significant piece of architecture on this scale to have been constructed in Arkansas.
Not to mention the art collection
That bit in the upper right corner...it's like some sort of organism flexing its muscles.
