One of my first images with a tele, something i rarely use. I'm looking through my first pictures, to see how i would do things now, or edit them like i'm used to now.
Thank you for watching,
kind regards,
Christophe.
During the course of the years most of my lightning photographs were shot with a wide angle lens. Here the lightning was at a distance of about 16 kilometers (10 miles) and I used a short telephoto lens. It turned out very well.....
No cropping, this is the complete full frame capture.

This blossom is about 2.5cm in diameter, and the tele lens is a whopping 450mm (on my APS-C sensor). One of the advantages of this mirror-reflex lens is that you can get close to the object (down to 90cm). I had not expected this, but I am in fact using this lens mostly for close-ups. Contre-jour/reflector.

I posted a shot of this train from this same bridge a while ago. This is the tele version of the shot, I suppose my happy railfanning days are behind me for this winter, and who knows, maybe longer with $4 per gallon and rising gas prices.
I pushed my lens to the limit just to try this different shot at North Lima. K596 gets ready to pass the color position light signal at North Lima, in the distance, you can see the signals for DT&I Junction.
Using a 300mm tele lens (450 full frame equivalent), and hand-held, on High Street may not seem the brightest idea. I would count myself lucky if every third image was in focus. On the other hand, the foreshortening and the much smaller angle of view of the tele do produce fresh vistas. Samyang mirror reflex lens (fixed at F6.3).
