Not a great picture angle - the dogs run up the ramp, past the center point, and the board flops over to the other side.
A 10 to 12 foot plank pivoting on a support, much like a child's seesaw. It is constructed slightly off-balance so that the same end always returns to the ground. This is done either by placing the support slightly off-center or else weighting one end of the board.

I remember that when we first moved to Durham, the land this Harris Teeter was on was just grass and trees. They have done a face-lift since I moved away from there.
