There are two major passions in China, aside from the aforementioned selling of tat and basketball.
These are road widening projects and teetering about on insanely high heels. Chinese women are truely stoical, be they trotting across cobbles or climbing mountains the heels are a must.
Also there seems to be very little concept of 'ho heels' or 'fuck me boots' here as no one bats an eyelid at clear, silver or gold stilletos.
That said, one of the first sentences I learnt to say in Chinese was; "Wo xie huan ni de schietzi." (I like you're shoes)
It has served me well.
