Note: Ted Nugent joined Aerosmith on stage for a rousing rendition of "Milk Cow Blues" Note: For comic relief between a couple of acts Cheech & Chong entertained the crowd Note: The high temperature was 104 degrees that day (over 120 degrees on the field). To protect the Cotton Bowl they covered the surface with black tarp. Over 100,000 people were in attendance on the hottest day of the decade. The concert had hose sprinklers around the field edge to cool people off and they hosed the crowd down with firehoses from the stage. First aid stations were busy. This was the FIRST southern stadium rock show since ZZ Top played to 80,000 people at UT Austin and tore up the field. The debate over hunting weapons has been ranging since mankind first picked up a stick and went "oook!".

In the early days, rocks, spears, and clubs were the weapons of choice. All vast improvements over the teeth and claws that we humans are equipped with.

As technology marched on, the bow eventually became a quite a bit hit. Favored by guys named Attila and Ghengis, this particular weapon has stood the test of time, and is still used by some crazy guy named Ted. Rate of fire? Excellent. Range? Decent. Noise? Not much.

Once firearms came along, we got flint locks, muzzle loaders, breech loaders, and eventually even cartridge based hunting toys. On the whole, for most of history, these things were inferior to the bow - very noisy, low rate of fire, and wildly inaccurate unless you're drunk.

Things have improved a bit since the middle ages, and now a few kooks claim fully automatic weapons are the ideal choice for hunting little Bambi. The advantages of the AK-47, the M-16 and the AR-15, each complete with big banana clips, are obvious. Increased rate of fire, and the ability just keep shooting until the damn target stops twitching provide a clear advantage over a small rock. And heck, if you miss your original target, and keep on shooting, you might just hit something else. Two (or more!) for the price of one.

However, I've now discovered the perfect bambi-slayer. An 8 Inch, fully articulating canon. Range? Many miles. Noise: Enough that if you miss, the shock wave will still knock Bambi over. Accuracy: With a bit of math, a slide rule,a wind sock, and some high-school grade trigonometry, excellent.

... but there's more. These bad-boys disappear! This means none of that crazy sitting in a tree stand for hours on end needing to pee. You and the gun vanish underground, until a deer is spotted. Then your pop out of the ground, shoot off a round a minute, and then try to find a piece or two of venison. If you do find a piece, it's probably even already cooked!

How fun is that?
