I took this pic in the middle of Techworld Plaza in Mount Vernon Square. The building facing you is the City Museum of DC which is now closed. It used to be the old Washington Public Library built in 1903. The building in the far back behind the library in which you see glass is the new Washington Convention Center.

If you zoom in to the carving on the top of library it says essentially that this building is for Andrew Carnegie. I can't make everything out. You will also noticed that "V"s are used instead of "U"s in words. I guess that is Olde English.
