Before the play.
Tech note-
The light over our heads was too yellow.
Found a powerful option in the Photoshop menu: Enhance / Adjust Color / Adjust Color for Skin Tone. I sampled a spot on on Jenn's forehead and entered that and pow- it came out like this.
Don:-
- love how this tan color is applied.
Virginia-
i finger paint!
u should too!... try it out
D-
- I do a little. I'll do more.
- Looking at the center area on the right half:
- i love it- that when a color is running out- it stops filling the low places in the canvas, and in raised earlier brush strokes.
- as it gives way, it starts to reveal the surface detail.
- it shows the secrets… one of our not-so-small pleasures in life.

This is the top edge of Variation V. 02.
The application of paint of the red area varies a lot.
Go to the Actions menu, above the photo, and choose 'View all sizes' to see this alot closer.
The whites look different here- some cool and some warmer.
This is because the center white was painted in acrylic before any alkyd paint went on. (The sizing is acrylic polymer, so that is technically legal.)
The whites to the left and right in the image are painted in alkyd, and interacting with the alkyd yellow and red.
___
- polymer is artist's grade white glue.
___
- i use 'a lot' for emphasis and 'alot' more casually. same with a bit and abit.
___
- compare to the revised close view of 01:

[ don- consider doing a scan of this. this is a close photo. i thought it was good till i saw the scan of the red one, which is more dynamic.
- later- i wonder if the edge showing and the neutralized blue bg of the red one is part of it. just try it.

This set of three relates to the previous photo.
It also relates to the help on this from Lydia, then from Katie Dodd and Devin Roth.
The star at Coffeetopia (left) is full of holes, so it was used to get lines for the light show effect.

This was nice, and even made the banana look like the moon.
But there was no sharp image contrasted to the light show.
Katie suggested we get Devin in as a subject.

Colleen works at the entrance to Yosemite.
She sent me a note with this picture: ..."this little book was given to me today at the entrance station. the first page says, 'DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE NOBODY REALLY CARES?' "
This camera has an LCD window that flips around to the front so you can frame a photo of yourself. Nifty.
See next page. If this is what they call "scenery", then Earth is an asteroid:
I'm grateful to once again be back out in beautiful British Colombia!
Here's a two-image-stitch of the view from where I'm staying. I took this last night as the sun was setting over Kootenay Lake.
[TechNote]: These images were taken with my fixed Nikon 20mm f2.8. I really am loving this little lens.
These will be the lines- the basis of the variation.

The black stick is "natural charcoal". Painters love this stuff. You can draw with it on the canvas and brush it right off with a rag to make changes. But a ghost of the previous line remains.
If you look close, you can see that it had been the branch of a tree: it has the grain of the wood and the little branch buds and everything. It has been converted to charcoal, not burned.
In the inserted close-up you can see the grain of the wood.
Close to finished.
The red paint is applied very differently from the first one, which was more straightforward- one brushstroke deep.
This one has that but all kinds of other applications which allow the canvas texture to show.
I'm going back to the first one to make the red areas more like this one. better.
May also ad some detail at the top edge on the first one.
File name- Var. V. 02.
"V" is Virginia.

This workshop will address the new Rural Roads Specification system. It will highlight the new documents developed for the design, construction and maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads for low volume traffic. New reference documents like the Design reference and checklists, Construction reference and Schedules, TECHguides, TECHreports and TECHnotes will be discussed to support rural councils to develop their own specifications inhouse.
It will explain how these documents can be implemented at the council level, so that the rural councils can design, construct and maintain their road network. Manage the council gravel pits, improve locally available materials effectively and efficiently.
Regional and rural councils will find the new Rural Roads Specification system very useful to document the design, construction and maintenance of their road network. Using the appropriate information in this specification system and implementing various techniques recommended will significantly improve the structural integrity, safety and performance of sealed and unsealed roads and assist councils to better serve their communities.
