The Manor Wischlingen is located in the western district of Dortmund, Huckarde.

From the former knighthood Wischlingen, which had to be broken up in 1903 due to dilapidation, until today only the half-timbered chapel built in 1783 is preserved. Its foundations date back to a predecessor building built around the year 1400. The first Protestant service on Westphalian soil was celebrated here. The chapel was built as a half-timbered hall with roof rider and polygonal choir. After an initial repair in 1951, the chapel was restored in 1974 and 1975 and integrated into the Wischlingen park. In the chapel there is a wooden pulpit altar and burial plates of the families of Syberg and Sydow from the 17th and 18th. Century.

The house Wischlingen is listed as a monument, the Protestant chapel, the only sacred half-timbered building in Dortmund, as a monument in the monument list of the city of Dortmund.

The Revierpark Wischlingen is a green and recreational complex in the district Huckarde. It is located directly next to the Hallerey Nature Reserve and covers an area of 39 ha.

At the end of the 19th century the rail construction of vehicles began in Dessau. In the beginning gas-pursued streetcars were produced, however, already quite soon the production programme of the carriage factory of Dessau changed, carriage and freight car were produced.

Then between the world wars one produced motor coach in big variety. Then after 1945 more than 54,000 rail vehicles in the work halls of the "VEB Waggonbau Dessau" became Dessau, in the majority refrigerated vehicle and chill trains.

Today something hardly reminds in Dessau of this chapter of the town history. Therefore, this website would like to try to receive the memory of the carriage production in Dessau.

A new, two-sided marshalling yard (with separate yards for traffic in each direction) was built for freight in 1906, a six-track passenger station was built at Langendreer Nord.

Due to the closure of coal mining in the Ruhr, freight traffic dropped drastically in the 1950s. The western hump-yard was shut down in 1962, its marshalling operations were transferred to Bochum-Dahlhausen and Wanne-Eickel.

The establishment of two Opel car factories in Bochum in 1962, changed the nature of freight traffic in Langendreer: in addition to new cars, car components from within General Motors Corporation were transported by rail. In 1967 a container terminal was opened; it was closed in 2000. In the summer of 1998, the operations of the eastern marshalling yard was closed. Parts of these yard are now used as a train depot.

The Luisenhütte Wocklum (also Wocklumer Hammer) in the Balver district of Wocklum is Germany's oldest blast furnace plant with complete facilities.

Perhaps the history of the Luisenhütte dates back to 1732. However, the construction of an iron hut by the Landsberg family can only be documented in 1748.In 1758 the Luisenhütte was taken over by Clemens August von Landsberg.

Ignaz von Landsberg-Velen und Gemen, who took over the holdings in 1812, devoted himself particularly to the expansion of this foundry complex. In his time also falls the 1835 naming: Ludowika (Luise) von Westerholt-Gysenberg was his wife.

In 1854, due to growing competition from the neighbouring Ruhr region, England and Belgium, the hut was expanded and rebuilt.

The Henrichenburg boat lift is a popular destination for cyclists along the canals of the northern Ruhr Area.

The new boat lift was opened in 1962 and has a trough length of 90 metres, a width of 12 metres, and a draft of 3 metres. It was capable of lifting vessels of up to 1350 tonnes. This lift utilizes the same construction principles as the old lift but using only two floats in two float chambers.

The new lift soon became too small for the navigation's requirements and a new ship lock allowing boats 190 metres long and 12 metres wide, allowing a 4-metre displaced depth was built next to the lift in 1989.

The new lift was taken out of use in December 2005 because of technical problems. The lift may not be repaired on the grounds of cost and the decreased usage of Dortmund Port. Without the lift, any problems or maintenance requirements on the modern lock would bring about the closure of Dortmund Port, as is the case in the Summer of 2021, when visitors to the site saw the lock gates dismantled and lying in the chamber for repair, causing a six week stoppage.

The House Goldschmieding is a former noble seat on the urban area of Castrop-Rauxel. Its origins lie in a knighthood from the 13th century, whose name is composed of the Middle High German terms "gholt" for "wood" or "at the forest" and "smedinc" for "forge."

In the last quarter of the 16th century, the house was completely redesigned in the style of the Lipperenaissance by its owners and presents itself today - in a reduced form - as a simple plaster building, which is used as a restaurant.

In conjunction with the knight Lambert von Gholtsmedinc, Haus Goldschmieding was first mentioned in 1275 as the boundary of the archbishop's Recklinghausen against the counts von der Mark. At that time it was a defensible house surrounded by a countryside, located on an island. The corresponding foreshore was also located on its own island and was connected to the main island via a bridge.

At the end of the 14th century the property came to the family of Alstede, followed by the family of Asbeck. Only a little later the property was owned by William of the Ovelacker. After the hereditary daughter of Goldschmieding, Anna Margaretha von Ovelacker, married Johann von Schell zu Rechen in 1583, Haus Goldschmieding moved into the possession of the lords of Schell, who had their ancestral seat in the house of Rechen near Bochum. Jürgen Christoph von Schell (1619-1677) became the patron of the small Protestant congregation in Castrop. He enabled her to celebrate Evangelical Lutheran worship in the Knight's Hall. In the second half of the 16th century, the Protestant congregation had been able to celebrate its divine service at Bladenhorst Castle, but after its castle lord Philipp Arnold von Viermundt (also called "Philipp von Viermundt der Jüngere") turned to the Reformed Church, this was no longer possible there.

The Tüshaus mill is a water mill near Dorsten-Deuten in North Rhine-Westphalia. The mill is located on the southern edge of the forest area of Üfter Mark, where the water of the Hammbach River from Rhade is stowed to the mill pond.

The history of the Tüshaus-Hof, to which the mill belongs, can be traced back to 1382. The lords of Lembeck, who held the water law in their territory, leased a whale mill driven by the water of the Hammbach in 1615 to a certain Mr. Tuschhaus.

However, the mill was not the first building on this site, as it was built on older foundations. Sheep were mainly kept in the extensive heathland surrounding the area. The wool was rolled in the Tüshaus mill by a hammer mill and sold as felt material to the region's cloth makers for further processing. The billing books include customers from Wesel, Recklinghausen, Westerholt, Dülmen, Münster and Dinxperlo.

The mill had already been increased in 1752 and expanded by a second mill wheel, so that since 1754 it also served the tenant Joan-Heinrich Tüshaus as an oil mill. The oil was obtained mainly from the rapeseed and linseed of the surrounding fields. In 1880 Albert Brosthaus was the Ölmüller, followed by Dumpe and Schetter. The old plants of the oil mill were replaced in 1914 by a modern hydraulic oil mill, which pressed the oil out of the seeds with 350 atü. The operation of the oil mill was discontinued around 1948 for economic reasons.

The Henrichenburg boat lift is a popular destination for cyclists along the canals of the northern Ruhr Area.

The old boat lift was opened in 1899. It was an important structure on the Dortmund-Ems-Kanal without which it would not have been possible to navigate to Dortmund Port. The lift was the biggest and most spectacular structure on the old Dortmund-Ems-Kanal. It was inaugurated by Kaiser Wilhelm II on 11 August 1899.

This technically very interesting construction managed to lift approximately 1000 tonnes of ship and water filled trough using a relatively small amount of power. The trough was supported by 5 cylindrical floats each immersed in 40 metre deep water-filled wells. The lift from the floats was the same as the load of the water filled trough therefore, only a small electric motor sufficient to overcome friction and viscous resistance was needed to set the trough in motion in either direction. Four steel worm gears, 20 metres long and 280 mm in diameter were used to direct the trough in the appropriate course.

The old lift was closed shortly after the opening of the new lift. A year later in 1963 an attempt was made to restart the old lift. It was found that the trough had tilted and that it could no longer be moved into either the fully up or fully down positions. The lift remains in this condition today and is conserved as part of a museum.

A solar eclipse occurs when a portion of the Earth is engulfed in a shadow cast by the Moon which fully or partially blocks sunlight. This occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned. Such alignment coincides with a new moon (syzygy) indicating the Moon is closest to the ecliptic plane. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses, only part of the Sun is obscured.

Fast-roping is a technique for descending a thick rope, allowing troops to deploy from a helicopter in places where the aircraft cannot touch down.

The person holds onto the rope with gloved hands (with or without using their feet) and slides down it. Several people can slide down the same rope simultaneously, provided that there is a gap of about 3 metres (10 ft) between them, so that each one has time to get out of the way when they reach the ground.

Fast roping is quicker than abseiling (rappelling), although more dangerous, particularly if the person is carrying a heavy load, because the rope is not attached to them with a descender. The technique is particularly useful for naval infantry, who can use it to board ships at sea.

The Vossloh G 6 is a three-axle diesel hydraulic shunting locomotive from the manufacturer Vossloh, which has been built since 2008. Assigned series in the German Vehicle Settings Register are 98 80 0279 and 98 80 0650.

The design of the G 6 series is designed for maneuvering. With a selection of additional equipment, the locomotives can be adapted to specific operating conditions.

The locomotive frame of the G 6 is already prepared for various equipment variants. The superstructures are divided into individually removable sections, which contributes to ease of maintenance. They were further developed from those of the previous types, the cab is completely new developed.

The use of engines from three different manufacturers is envisaged. In addition to the variant as a maneuvering locomotive with a maximum speed of 35 km/h, a variant with a maximum speed of up to 80 km/h is also offered.

The power transmits a turbo transmission of the type L3r4zeU2 from Voith.

The gearsets are disc-braked. Cooling and exhaust systems are prepared for future emission regulations and can be equipped, for example, with particulate filters.

The Junkers F 13 was the world's first all-metal transport aircraft, developed in Germany at the end of World War I. It was an advanced cantilever-wing monoplane, with enclosed accommodation for four passengers. Only 322 were manufactured. It was in production for thirteen years and in commercial service for almost twenty.

Wind tunnels are large tubes with air blowing through them. The tunnels are used to replicate the actions of an object flying through the air or moving along the ground. Researchers use wind tunnels to learn more about how an aircraft will fly. NASA uses wind tunnels to test scale models of aircraft and spacecraft. Some wind tunnels are large enough to contain full-size versions of vehicles. The wind tunnel moves air around an object, making it seem as if the object is really flying.

The nobility seat was the headquarters of the knights of Leithe whose possession in the hamlet Leithe, under it the big statute labour court magistrate Herveling, from the abbey Deutz went to fief. Not far from the statute labour court the gender established in the 13th/14th century her nobility seat free of dependence which was till 1438, to the time of the extinction of the gender in male line, residence of the family (in 1366 first expressly occupied). The members had acquired to themselves special respect as castle people of shining stone and castle Mark near Hamm in the service of the countsvon der Mark in whose suite they are to be found since the 13th century.

Between 1439 and 1749 house Leithe was not any more a residence of a nobility family, but was administered by treasurer by order of the respective owners. This explains, why the arrangement resembles today rather an agriculturally used manor and only low news exists to the late-medieval / early-modern construction history.

In 1901 house Leithe is sold to the court-appointed expert Wilhelm Behmer. Behmers widow sells the possession in 1914 with a total of 60 mornings to country to the city of Gelsenkirchen. It is reported that the Gräften led up to 1890 still water which seeped, however, later by the effects of the mining.

A not unsubstantial agricultural area under cultivation which is worked on till this day still by the current tenant - which farmer Berger - always belonged to the house Leithe. With Theodor Berger the last shoot of the farm family leaves at the end of 2010 the property. to the house Leithe also belonged Bokermühle which was torn off in the first half of the 20th century.
