Thank you all for views, comments and faves, 💟😊

DB Cargo Shed no. 66035 'Resourceful' vibrates the surroundings as she powers south through Preston station with the 6.29pm Hardendale Quarry - Margam (6V71) loaded aggregate.

The light sabre at left (better recognised as part of the ornate subway fencing during daylight hours) was put to use helping continue the red theme across the frame.

If you look at the trash littering this alley and think it's just another one of those hangouts for winos and dealers, you would be totally wrong. Behind those weathered and beaten doorways most likely resides a software company and a horde of techie workers.

This part of the City has been re-gentrifying for quite some time. Companies flush with the big bucks redo the interiors of the buildings while leaving the exteriors the way they've looked for years. The entire process raises prices and displaces people. A sad state affairs for the locals. I even feel sorry for the winos.

San Francisco CA

A pair of Freightliner 'Skodas', 90043 and 90007, make easy work of the 4.33pm Coatbridge FLT - Crewe (4M80) containers as they pass through the splendid Victorian shed that is Preston station.

Running two minutes ahead of schedule, they will gain a further four minutes over the next hour or so, arriving at Crewe Yard six minutes early. Hopefully the driver managed to get an early night.

Unit 90007, still carrying the 'Sir John Betjeman' nameplate and Greater Anglia TOC colours, would be rebranded in the orange Freightliner livery within a month of this shot. Sadly 'Sir John' failed to make the cut.

Looks best full-screen.

And hopefully he has too....

Passing deep under Liverpool with a Wirral Line circular is Merseyrail three-car unit no. 508117, seen here approaching Moorfields station.

The train is the 1.56pm West Kirby - Liverpool - West Kirby (2W49) Saturdays-only service. Next stop is Lime Street, then Central and James Street before diving back under the River Mersey towards Birkenhead and The Wirral.

Sadly no stop at Penny Lane this time around 😂

Here's that first California Poppy of the season, unfurled from the day before where its hat was still on.

For the techie folks, I actually used a small reflector to throw some light in that shadow side. It's nice to shoot around the yard, and have all your toys within easy reach. Bees are coming too.

Nothing like a late summer day in the Missouri Ozarks -- here Stockton Lake -- to forget about the world's craziness for a couple hours and simply enjoy nature. . .

For the techie: two images stitched together in the center.

From one of only a couple of starry night outings I made in 2020, to Joshua Tree National Park, for a lovely evening. I'm hoping to psych up and get back out there, after pretty much a full year in hibernation. As for techie stuff, I've been using a couple of small LED panels on stands for my foreground lighting.

A sewing machine collector

Being on the island of Rügen is fun.

It gets even more interesting in the evening. On the way to our hotel we passed various illuminated windows. A wonderful collection of travel sewing machines. As a techie, I think that's great.

Female or nonbreeding Bobolink - a lifer bird I would never never have seen without my birdie buddies - very "uncommon" in Southern California.

As for techie stuff, I'm kindof embarrassed about the high ISO and ridiculous shutter speed - it was late afternoon, the shadows were long, and the birdies were mostly deep in the reeds, in the shade. Then whap, our target bird flies in for a cameo portrait, full sun. Yeegads.

So sorry my Flickr friends, I haven't figured out yet why I cannot reply to your comments although I can comment on your photos. It's got to be something with the cache on my computer, or so my techie friends tell me. Oh , well, until I figure it out, please know I appreciate all your wonderful comments!

Well I'm heavenly blessed and worldly wise

I'm a peeping-tom techie with x-ray eyes

Things are going great, and they're only getting better

I'm doing all right, getting good grades

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades

Having been so impressed with the iPhone13 Mini for photography recently, I've traded up to the 16 PRO to tackle a couple of what I thought capability gaps. To all intents and purposes this will now replace the little Sony DSC camera - which might offend the purists but, for me, convenience and a sense of freedom just outweigh using the more formal camera. For more serious train stuff I'll still use the Canon EOS 5D.

This shot was taken at Nottingham while over there for family, and features DB Cargo 'Shed' 66185 approaching the station with the lengthy 10.38am Kingsbury Terminal - Humber Refinery (6E54) discharged petroleum tankers.

Techie notes: shot in RAW mode with the 5x zoom, processed in Lightroom and Topaz Adjust. Uncropped 4:3 frame, but 0.2deg rotation needed to straighten.

A little more of that beautifully restored 1932 Chrysler convertible coupe, and pretty rare too. I had to move the poor thing out of the rain and over to dry land! ;)

I know you just love the techie stuff too, so here it be:

GBRf 'Shed' unit 66770 nears journey's end as it rolls south through the elegant St Denys station bang on schedule heading the 3.56pm Hams Hall (Birmingham) - Southampton Western Docks (4O32) container train. The extent to which export traffic like this will suffer over the coming months given recent political developments remains unclear.

Per Wiki: The station buildings are fine examples of the Victorian Italianate classical style architecture introduced to the LSWR by William Tite. The original 1867 station building on platform 1 is Grade II listed, now privately owned and renamed Drummond House. Platforms 2 and 3 (seen in this shot) house the waiting room and ticket window, whilst the old station buildings on platform 4 house The Solent Model Railway Group.

The yellow bin in the foreground is of rather more recent vintage, and holds grit for use on the platform surfaces during icy weather.

A resplendent Freightliner class 59 'Shed', unit 59102, comes off the Fareham line at Eastleigh and rolls along platform 2 with the 6.28pm Crawley - Merehead Quarry (6V68) aggregate empties.

After a short pause at the end of the platform for a driver change, the train set off across both Up and Down lines to take the Romsey branch towards Salisbury and Westbury.

Arrival at Merehead Quarry was scheduled for Saturday 00.44 but, with an actual arrival at 00.07, let's hope the driver saw an earlier than expected start to their weekend.

With the crew-change now complete, DB Cargo 'Shed' 66185 stands at Nottingham station as the new Driver settles in and readies himself for the 1hr 40min journey to Barnetby, where he himself will be relieved. The train is the 10.38am Kingsbury Terminal - Humber Refinery (6E54) discharged petroleum tankers.

A scene from the James Wood High School's Drama Department 1 act play from Saturday's competition.

My son is the (as he says and my eyes roll~LOL!) "Techie", or as us grown up would say...he runs the light and sound board.

I did spend some time in the California Coast Redwoods. These guys are TALL, the earth's tallest tree - up to 380 feet. That's easily taller than a football field, with almost 3 first downs to spare. The Coast Redwoods don't have the girth of the Giant Sequoias, but they do get them on height. Mostly, I didn't even try to photograph the trees in their entirety, top to bottom, because the magnificence and detail is lost, and of course impossible to do just one. But I made a couple of feeble attempts. The focus here is on the tree just right of center. It's really not that far from the camera with the 12mm focal length. You can see a large burn scar at the base. Many of the trees are scarred but they just keep on living, as much as a couple of thousand years.

Techie note: 4 exposure HDR stack. And thankfully, my last morning in the area was overcast. Most of my time there the days were sunny, making for harsh spotty bright light and deep shade.

So sorry my Flickr friends, I haven't figured out yet why I cannot reply to your comments although I can comment on your photos. It's got to be something with the cache on my computer, or so my techie friends tell me. Oh , well, until I figure it out, please know I appreciate all your wonderful comments!

Allia and I get lots of attention in the Genus Group, but I did not want this holiday season to get by without taking a shot with my other girl from Genus, Jae! Jae helps mostly in Discord and in those weird hours when Allia and I are not around and she is also the technical one in the group that answers those techie questions we get. Thanks for all you do Jae. Happy Holidays to all of you from Jae and I.

Techie note: I wish I could return to take this picture again, with a more powerful camera! Nowadays iPhones have more resolution than the Fuji Finepix S7000 I was using in 2004 to capture this moment! Perhaps one could call it a vintage digital image.

Here is the view of the Seine from the Pont Neuf in the historic center of Paris. You can see the Pont des Arts and the Louvre stretching from center right. The boats are docked along the Quai de Conti.

Despite the cold on this blustery March evening, the sunset reflecting in the choppy water was a fitting tribute to what had been a magical winter afternoon. After a week of overcast skies a storm had cleared the air, bringing welcome rain and beautiful clouds. I was in heaven even though my fingers were freezing!

Well.. seems like I will have to get my Fall pictures up in a hurry because the forecast for Thursday is.... snow!!

The Fall leaves came on fast but we've had lots of rain and wind so they are falling already.

NOTE: Doing some work on my computer.. adding storage, backing up photos ..128,997 (846 Folders) ... no, I have never deleted on a regular basis.. so no lectures please. I may be off for some time until my techie.. Bob.. does this for me. : )

Learning how to set off my camera with my phone....just how techie techie is that??

Setting sunset over the mountains, with the black sand dunes. This location out near the radar station has an entrance fee, but is worth the cost. Sea mist in the centre, snow capped mountains in the distance, rolling waves coming in with the tide.

The radar station { behind us in this shot} was I believe USA set up as early warning for incoming targets from Russia en-route to the states, then became NATO run and now is civilian for Iceland. {Correct me if this is wrong please.}

The SOOC was okay, but I felt I needed to glam it up a bit for art's sake. so I blended in some filters and a paper-like texture from les brumes. I love taking pictures... anything that catches my fancy. I still have to learn settings and all, and I cant PS very well like most of my flickr friends do. (I wish I were more of a techie, but in truth, I prefer photos that are not overly done or not too perfect.) I was worse before flickr; all my pictures were "raw". The best photography advice I stumbled upon, which guides me in every photo I take -- PLAY IT BY EYE.

Please listen to Slow Burn

Born in a hurry, always late

Haven't been early since '88

Texas is hot, I can be cold

Grandma cried when I pierced my nose

Good in a glass, good on green

Good when you're putting your hands all over me

I'm alright with a slow burn

Taking my time, let the world turn

I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright

If we burn it down and it takes all night

It's a slow burn, yeah

In Tennessee, the sun's goin' down

But in Beijing, they're heading out to work

You know the bar down the street don't close for an hour

We should take a walk and look at all the flowers

'Cause I'm alright with a slow burn

Taking my time, let the world turn

I'm gonna…

During our techie weekend retreat at the westcoast of Denmark, we defenitely needed to get outside, get some fresh air and process our hangovers - so we walk to the beach and followed the sea south until we reached the iconic Lyngvig Lighthouse.

The roundtrip was a 7.2 km walk and was very good for my back problems. It also gave me the opportunity to capture this photo

Thanks to all the support, I am back on my feet again, shooting. Bought marbles from the 100 Yen Shop downstairs. This shot is posted as it is, no more adjustments, only the re-size and the signature.

Techie notes: No strobe, just the room light. Used a Canon 500D Close-up Lens, attached to the Canon EFS 17-85mm at 85mm - full zoom. The 500D's capacity will be optimized from 70mm onwards. Actually, what's right for my 17-85mm is the Canon 250D Close-up Lens, but I bought the 500D by mistake.

Have a great day my flickr friends.

The blue hour in the morning at about 06:38am of the Harpa Concert Hall reflected in puddles of water and ice.

{Techie info - f/ 7. 1, ISO 640, 8 seconds shutter, 14mm focal length. }

It was a busy day yesterday!! I want to thank my dearest friend Peter Temple www.petertemplestudio.com , for helping me hang the "Treasures of Italy - Icons of Venice and Florence" show at V'Canto's in Fort Bragg..... AND for his hours debugging each and every techie printer issue, AND for helping me knock out all the matting and framing for a 20 piece one person show (!!!) in such a short period of time these last three days!

Gulf Fritillary, Los Angeles County Arboretum. Some techie camera stuff: At the first of 2019, I decided to try a Sony A9 body with my life-long investment in Canon gear. It worked great with all my lenses, and of note here, is I'm actually used to the close-focus 3 feet and change of the 100-400. Moving on, I've picked up the new Sony 200-600. The only con, if you could call it that, was the close-focus distance of 7.87 feet. Shooting bugs and butterflies was likely not going to be very effective I thought. So, needless to say, I'm just tickled with my Fritillary here, shot with my Sony FE 200-600 G OSS lens. With some cropping.
