3 1/2 inch tea cup block for group two of the bitty block swap

One of my favorite teacups! I have a thing for yellow china.

i can't ride the teacups, but i do think they're beautiful.

The original hedgehog tea set was the result of my first request for a hedgehog related special order, by a woman named Simone. At the time I was just so happy to get any kind of pottery related work, while working in a non-pottery related job, that I didn't even get to test or refine the design. Since that first tea set, I've made a few changes, and expect to keep making a few more changes with the future sets. Thank you, Simone, for bringing about the creation of the hedgehog tea sets; I hope that your set pours correctly for you. #animal #wildlife #wild #tea #teacup #teapot #teaset #clay #ceramic #stoneware #pottery #sculpture #handmade #wheel #wheelthrown #hedgehog #hedgie #functional #home

These are birdfeeders / planters made from repurposed teacups and pitchers. So cute!

Yes, I found some cheap teacups in Tokyo, and I figured 'now or never.' :) The teapot, however, is not new... that's a few years old courtesy of Ric... I just thought it was a cute combo. (^o^)

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before or maybe this is common knowledge or whatever, but the way typical Japanese people seem to like their dishes is as imperfect as possible. They love handmade pottery, particularly if it's a little warped or the glaze is uneven. So while Americans typically think of asian dinnerware as those perfect square plates... that is definitely there, the impression I've gotten is that it's like.... cheap. Like if you've just moved out and can't afford decent dishes, then you buy perfectly uniform monochrome dishes. That's the impression I've gotten anyway.... I'm perfectly happy to debate this with anyone, lol.

Okay, so this baby was a lot bigger than I predicted. We had a hard time getting her in here.

"Please wait till your teacup has run out of steam and spill over to the exit."

There's something about a nice teacup that pleases me to no end.
