A friend of mine works at REI, where they have recently started a book club, and he asked if i would make some cookies for their first meeting:-) The book they are discussing is "Three Cups of Tea" and if youre not familiar with the book, the title comes from the proverb: "The first cup of tea, you are a stranger; the second cup, a friend; and the third cup, you are family."
My friend had requested 2 dozen cookies in the shapes of teacups and the REI logo. Keeping the title of the book in mind, i thought it would be appropriate to make three different patterns for the teacups:-)
Another final for my first unit 3 shoot titled 'Narrative' where I'm looking into fairytales with realistic current world problems. Yup it sounds quite morbid but seems pretty interesting! I took hours upon hours editing this one, I'm still not 100% happy with it but whatever I like it...ish.

These are birdfeeders / planters made from repurposed teacups and pitchers. So cute!

She is wearing gloves because I ran out of that particular color of yellow. I have mixed feelings about how I stitched this teacup lady up. I think the colors are a bit garish. Or maybe it's because I really liked the first version I stitched up of her.
Oh well, I am not ripping these stitches out so she will have to be the odd duck of the group.
This is a one of a kind piece that is really more a gallery piece than a craft show piece. Made from teacups and a sugar bowl, I carefully split each vessel, and kept them in their original shapes. The top teacup is an German cobalt porcelain from the early 1900s. The sugar bowl is blue willow from Japan, the good old kind. A broken Irish Belleek vase fills in one section. A gorgeous blue paisley cup from Bavaria creates the footing. And an English Blue Onion teacup includes even the handle. The inside has been finished as well.
