Friday paddock atmosphere at the 2017 WEC round at the Nürburgring: working on the front bodywork at TDS.
August 1959, and the Mann Egerton bodied TDs are still prominent at Kingston, and a magnet for bus spotters across the capital. At this time the hobby was popular amongst boys in many schools and was seen as a normal offshoot from the male interest in all things mechanical. Two of these TD routes would be converted to RF operation a few months later, after some routes elsewhere were changed to double deck operation.
Meanwhile, on the extreme left is RF518, which is one of a batch recently converted for OMO, but which has reverted back to crewed operation after failure to gain union agreement. Newly fitted doors were secured open as can be glimpsed here. I've posted a separate close up picture.
