Great Dining Room
Built as part of the 6th Duke’s renovation which was completed in 1832.
The first dinner in this room was hosted in 1832, for Princess Victoria, the future Queen. She was 13 and it was her first experience of a formal dinner.
This room is still used for formal dinners.
The Chatsworth Tazza
One of the largest Blue John pieces ever made. On display in the dining room.
Commissioned by the 6th Duke of Devonshire, in 1842. from William Adam of Matlock.
The bowl is 51 cm (20 inches) in diameter.
Blue John is a compact banded variety of fluorite found only in Castleton, Derbyshire.

This tree reminds me of a tutu, with bright yellow leaves mostly on the bottom. Rode with a few friends on a beautiful autumn day to Tazza Cafe, one of my favorite rest stops. Dolce and friends are resting beneath the tutu tree.
