An unserem Fenster in einer geschützten Stelle hat diese Sinne ihr Netz gewoben. Geduldig sitzt sie seit vielen Tagen dort und wartet auf ihr Opfer. Gestern konnten wir beobachten wie sie ihren Fang langsam verspeiste. Jetzt wartet sie auf das nächste unvorsichtige Opfer.
Für das Foto musste ich auf eine Leiter steigen, eine etwas wacklige Angelegenheit, liebe Freunde.

At our window in a protected place these senses have woven their net. Patiently she has been sitting there for many days waiting for her victim. Yesterday we could watch her slowly eating her catch. Now she is waiting for the next careless victim.

Our first location - Gimsøy Kirke on the island of Gimsøy, a beautiful little white church that blended perfectly into the landscape. So many angles to shoot from and all the prettier with a thick cover of snow to complement its exterior.

I was fortunate to get to meet some flickr people in London. Monkey Magic and Poorusher helped to arrange a meet-up at the Tate Modern and dinner at a Turkish restaurant called Tas during my visit. It was a wonderful evening of conversation which ended with shots of ouzo along a blue-lit stretch of the Thames.
I wish i could have met with all my flickr friends in the UK. There will be a next time and i will have more time to meet everyone. I promise.

Tatsächlich ist es gerade so, daß um mich herum jeder das Wort "tatsächlich" inflationär unter das Volk wirft. Es fällt mir extrem auf...unangenehm auf. In Reportagen, Interviews und im täglichen Sprachgebrauch wird "tatsächlich" als nutzloses Füllwort in jeden möglichen Satz gedrückt....warum ist das so?!
...es ist noch ein bißchen schlimmer als die involviert-Seuche...als man nur noch involviert und nichts anderes mehr sein konnte...
On this Laos trip, I finally managed to figure out long exposure with my Sony A7iv... well, my mate told me how to do it in fact! Now I'm beginning to realise the importance of a tripod. Fortunately there was something to rest my camera on for this shot.

The one24thscale team discovered early on, good props help us make great images.
With plans to create a scene in the lot of an abandoned potato barn, we needed 1/24th scale, potatoes.
Would you believe it? The answer was in the pantry and not online or at a hobby shop.
We owe a debt of gratitude to a buddy, our old friend in forced perspective, Guilherme Holtz. He suggested cutting up pasta. That got me looking at some Orzo pasta in the pantry but the ends are too pointy. They look more like, tiny American footballs. There was some quick-cook barley in the pantry but is is squarish in shape. A visit to the grocery store provided the solution, Pearled Barley. To color the barley corns, a mix of ground cloves, paprika and cinnamon, soy sauce and some Liquid Smoke were combined to craft excellent, miniature Russet potatoes. The barley corns are about 1/4 inch long and 1/8th of in inch wide. That would be a spud about six inches long and three inches across in 1/2" scale, a nice sized baking potato.
The 1929 Dodge truck had not yet had its closeup. It is just too nice to weather permanently, it will need a layer of dust added with chalks before the actual shoot. We will also need a better bucket or tiny basket. for the shoot.
A work-in-progress with some promise.
It should also be noted, the mix of spices, soy sauce and Liquid Smoke smelled so good, I made another, larger batch of the stuff, adding a few more spices. The mix was sautéed in olive oil to release the essence of the spices and then boiling water and chicken broth were slowly added. Some veggies were added as the barley started to soften. Once the barley was fully cooked, it was finished with a third of a stick of butter. It all made for a pretty tasty, Barley Risotto.

Tuesday, two tater toting' trucks traversed the tracks to transport tasty taters to Tallahassee.
To tell the truth, they totally took their time.
Our forced perspective tour of Julesburg, Colorado continues with a visit to another interesting survivor from the town's history. Sedgwick County was once well known for the quality of the potatoes grown here. People still grow tasty taters in their backyard gardens. Both Julesburg and the town of Sedgwick have wonderful, old potato barns, still standing. This image pays tribute to that part of the area's past.
Both the Dodge and Ford pickup got some weathering since you last saw them on the workbench. Some very nice resin models of wicker baskets replaced the wooden bucket from the Tater Test shot. And, there were more than enough 1/24th scale potatoes to fill both trucks. We added the rail car to help convey the idea that, being a UP railroad town, Julesburg produce reaches a transcontinental customer base. Its presence is also a bit of artistic license on our part. The rails that served this building are on the other side of the structure,
Now, who knows how to run the fryer?
