The oar ends in a terrace where the legs of a lion frame an iron staircase which gives access the platform of the rock. Sigiriya means “the rock with the lion” and stone lion imposing kept at the time the entry of the palate.

Tea production in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, is of high importance to the Sri Lankan economy and the world market. The country is the world's fourth largest producer of tea and the industry is one of the country's main sources of foreign exchange and a significant source of income for laborers, with tea accounting for 15% of the GDP, generating roughly $700 million annually. Sri Lanka was the world's leading exporter of tea (rather than producer) with 23% of the total world export in 1995 but has since been surpassed by Kenya. The tea sector employs, directly or indirectly over 1 million people in Sri Lanka, and in 1995 directly employed 215,338 on tea plantations and estates. The central highlands of the country, low temperature climate throughout the year, annual rainfall and the level of humidity are more favorable geographical factors for production in high quality tea.
The flavour and quality of tea, like wine, depend on agro climatic conditions, and reputed varieties carry the names of prime growing regions. Sri Lanka’s tea plantations are mainly located in the higher elevations, which have a cool and pleasant subtropical climate. The effect of the diverse climates of Sri Lanka on tea production was a major discovery by the pioneer tea planters in the later part of the 19th century. This discovery has resulted in an array of fine teas, which are unique to each agro climatic zone and are not found anywhere else in the world. These distinct climatic zones produces teas known by romantic names such as Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula, Uva, Uda Pussellawa, Kandy and Ruhuna.

Taprobane Island was originally built in the 1920's by the romantically named but self styled Count de Mauny-Talvande. The island with its neo palladian mansion has played host to kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, aristocracy, writers and eccentrics, giving it a very colorful history. Sri Lanka’s only privately owned island. An impossibly romantic island villa eccentrically accessible only by wading through the sea. The No.1 address in the Indian Ocean.

Massive rock formation resembling a ship stands on a sandy ocean beach. Nearby, a tall coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) arches with lush green fronds against a partly cloudy sky. In the background, the ocean stretches with gentle waves meeting the shoreline. The rock exhibits a weathered surface with a mix of brown and gray hues, highlighting its rugged texture and angular shape. The scene embodies a tropical coastal setting, likely in Southern Province, Sri Lanka.
A sandy beach with gentle turquoise waves meets a lush grove of palm trees and other tropical vegetation. The shoreline curves gently beside a rocky outcrop, set against a clear blue sky. The scene evokes a tranquil, idyllic coastal environment, suggestive of a warm, tropical location. The water is calm with small waves lapping the shore, adding a serene dynamic to the picturesque landscape.
