Needs no explanation...more Ivy with an Ivy covered tree in the background that was catching the morning sun. Apologies to those struggling to keep down the Ivy in their garden lol... I embrace it although my late husband castigated me for it and have several varieties. I admit my garden has become a small green cave lol....

Guys! The Turtles Said They're Taking Over!

The small lake at the arboretum near us seems to be overrun with turtles this year. There are more turtles than I've ever seen just swimming in the water, But then I caught sight of at least 30 of them sunning on the bank, all crammed together - as seen here in the upper right hand corner.

I worry because it is a small lake - how are they going to be able to find enough to eat? There are also quite a few of these Canada Geese, and ducks, and we've seen a heron visiting on several occasions.

And then I can't help but wonder where all these turtles came from? Are people just finding them and dropping them off? Sometimes I worry too much, maybe this is one of those times. If so just call me Worry Wart, but I can't help it.

One of my bosses left for a new position, and just about everyone else is out for the Fourth holiday, so I decided it was time to take things into my own hands.

Microsoft no longer offers or supports its Groupshot program. In fact, the program has expired and won't even run now. I had to do this with Photoshop, using a "mask and merge" technique. I did this at lunch, and it really didn't take much time at all.

The versions of me on the right were easy to add. The versions of me on the left were more difficult because of overlapping images.

Visiting a nearby arboretum for a much needed change of scenery after staying home and staying safe, we went early hoping to beat the summer heat.

I ventured down the trail that runs next to the lake and happened to look up and saw this massive trumpet vine that was overtaking an equally massive pine tree, and reaching out to the neighboring trees.

While it looks kinda pretty, at the rate this vine can take over, I'm hoping the people who take care of the arboretum will be able to get a handle on this "situation." With the pandemic going on they may not have been able to get out there as much, or at all, and now in some places the arboretum is looking more like a jungle.

From the looks of things the turtles are taking over this small lake at the arboretum.

Of course they were sunning on the opposite side of the lake and this was the best vantage point for seeing them.

From the many shots I took of them, my best count was 31 turtles. I actually think there are more but I feel comfortable saying 31.

These are growing along the side of a garden wall so are mostly on the pavement ... or taking over the pavement to be more correct! Still look gorgeous though.

Thank you for your favourites. :O)

What once was a path to a volcanic steam vent is now being taken over by the ferns. The steam vent is still there just to the left right behind the small section of brick wall.

Agrileza valley, 4 km N of Sounion, high towers and ruins of large rural residences, as well as traces of the ancient marble quarries are quite well preserved. The marble of Agrilesa was white and thin - grained, but it had a light ash-coloured shade with sometimes, ash veins. It was used for the construction of the temples of Poseidon and Athena in Sounio.

...take a picture. These cattails are slowing taking over the little pond out back, but .... they're there and provided me with a fairly interesting picture.

Viewed from a distance, the challenge appears difficult, complex, and insurmountable. Yet when you get close enough to it, you see that it's nothing more than a lot of simple, easily conquered challenges bundled together.

Is there something you've been avoiding because it just seems so overwhelming? Move in closer to it, to where you can see the details. Pick one of those details and go to work on it. When you've moved past that small challenge go on to the next one.

Soon you'll see that the big, complex, overwhelming challenge is in fact something you can handle. Once you've gotten inside and gone to work, you'll soon find your way through the whole thing.

The most ambitious goals, the most burdensome problems are not nearly as daunting as they may first appear. Have the courage to walk right up to them and get a closer look.

When you do, you'll discover a secret shared by all those who accomplish great things. There's no limit to what you can achieve when you take it one step at a time.

Never went in.

Found it on my walk and thought it looked so intriquing.

Couldn't resist taking a picture, nor could I stop thinking about it for the better part of the evening.

What is behind "ivy doors"?....

I've been driving down this section of Broad Street for weeks watching this building and hoping to catch it without any cars parked in front. Finally...it happened and I was able to get a shot of this cool building with ivy all over and those beautiful flowers all around the balcony. Patience is a virtue, I guess...

nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuidas

The Headquarters of the international bank ABN AMRO is situated on the Amsterdam Zuidas (south-axe). It is one of 10 highest buildings of Amsterdam, with 105 m height and 24 storeys. It was the first major work in the development of this new area. The design responds to a request by the Board of Managers to reinforce the image of the bank as "powerful, reliable, experienced" and also "professional, dynamic and international."
