The Butterfly Weed seeds are so beautiful. I planted about 30 in the garden in the fall trying to replicate nature and not one germinated. I'll try again.
Yet another series! I found it interesting to trace the process of take-off of this Great Egret and some of the in-flight poses. Since I managed to hold the focus on the bird almost the whole time - which is rare - I reckon it's worth posting.
Some waterbirds have a lot of trouble taking off (like grebes, swans and moorehens) but these guys have no difficulties at all. One, lean foward, two, push with the legs and flap the wings and no need for three - away you go.
In above photo it started leaning forwards with intent so I starting shooting.

we were amazed to see this Masked Booby taking a break and a liberty by resting on the back of a turtle as we sailed from the Panama Canal towards San Francisco
When their allotted time was up (3:15 - 4:00), the cast of The American Repertory Theater's presentation of "WOODY SEZ" packed up their instruments and and pulled down the sign for their show at the ART. (It has since finished its run.)

Great fun, flew to Osaka and stayed with Avi and Genevieve at their apartment for a week. Brought the D3 and a single lens (35mm/F2). No flash.
365 day project; prompt was "park." She was taking a break to watch the older kids run around at the park.

This swing by Mark Reynolds sent the ball deep over the left centerfield fence...
SOO 2066, a Milwaukee Road painted GP40 is 4th unit out on CP 281 at it heads north through Des Plaines. SOO 2066 has been working Bensenville Yard for 3 months and now its being taken away.
